Thanks, @Golfingdad and @tristanhilton85, we'll miss you both.  For @mvmac, I'll let you know our actual tee times as soon as I hear back from Tom.

Straight up 9 on Monday at eagle falls. Tom can make times 3 days ahead at his locals rate, so he'll call silverrock first thing tomorrow. This weather is SO much better than home. Looking forward to seeing you again

Fun!  Tristan and I played there in August - reminded me a bit of Desert Willow

I'm just happy that the temps are way higher than at home, but I'm looking forward to a new course. And of course, looking forward to seeing Mike.

Just wanted to say thanks again to @DaveP043 and his buddy Tom for the invite and setting up the tee times. Courses were in perfect conditions, fairways were like hitting off carpet.

Here's some pics of Monday at Eagle Falls,

Got home Saturday, after a great time.  Our thanks go to @mvmac for joining us, it was fun to watch what real golf looks like.  Conditions continued to be perfect, along with the weather.  I enjoyed the changes to Silverrock, although I think the new 18th will be problematic.  When even this old man can reach the green (posted as 280+ yards), they're going to have either long waits or people getting hit into.  Maybe they need a bell.  Ah well, back to real life now.

Once again its time to revive this thread.  We're headed back to Palm Springs in a month, arriving Saturday, 1/12, and heading home the next Saturday. 1/19, which leaves 6 days for golf.  My buddy Tom, the one who has a house in La Quinta and hosts us each winter for a week, has specifically asked me to invite my TST friends to join us if you can.  As before, we'll have 5 or 6 golfers, so we expect to have at least 2 open spots each day.  At this stage, we don't have a specific schedule, but I imagine we'll include a similar rotation of courses:  Silverrock, Classic Club, Desert Willow, possibly one of the La Quinta Resort or PGA West courses, Marriott's Shadow Ridge.  If you're interested, please get in touch, its always great to see my west-coast friends.

@DaveP043, yes I'm definitely interested in joining you guys again. That week might be a tough one since I have a conference on the 16th/17th but I can hopefully get out for a couple days.

Good to hear, I'll let you know more as our plans develop.  I should have thought of it yesterday, but I'll tag the guys who have joined us in the past:

@Golfingdad, @Big C, @tristanhilton85

Dave it's always a pleasure to tee it up with you and your group. Sorry to say it but my golf calendar is booked for January. I will be traveling to Central Oregon to play the 4 Bandon Dunes courses in mid-month, which will leave me with no flexibility on my golf calendar for other trip.

Enjoy your trip - I look forward to seeing the pics and hearing the report back.

Dave, I'm not one of the folks who joined you in the past but if you're looking for another, I should be able to get out there on most of the days -- January 22 and 23 (Tuesday & Wednesday) are the only ones I am certain I won't be able to.

I'd love to meet you, @Shindig, but my golf dates are 1/13 (Sunday) to 1/18 (Friday).  Keep an eye here, when our plans become more definite I'll post courses and dates and times.  One that I'm sure we'll play is Silverrock, we already have vouchers from www.underpar.com that are only good through 1/17, but we can't reserve tee times until we get closer to the date.  As I think I said, we'll have 6 golfers, so we'll probably have a couple of open spots each day.

Sorry @DaveP043 I can't read sometimes.  Looks like 1/18 is the only one of those days I anticipate being able to be out there.  Of course, if you want another for that day, I would love to join.

We have four couples, with two of the wives who don't play golf, so we have at most 6 players.  We'd absolutely love to have you.

This could come out wrong, but I mean it as a compliment to everyone I've met through TST.  With six players, we expect to be paired with someone.  That could be anyone.  Every single person I've met through TheSandTrap has been an absolute delight to play with, and I'm certain that you will be too.  So yes, you're "better than the unknown option", but that's the wrong way to put it.  I just know we'll have fun playing with you.

I'll keep posting as we nail down our golf plans.

A little update for @Shindig and @mvmac.  Tom is now in La Quinta and beginning to make golf plans.  As I understand things here, Mike might join us for a day or two, but definitely not on Wednesday or Thursday (1/16 or 1/17).  @Shindig is hoping to join on Friday, 1/18.

At this stage, our group expects to have 7 players on Sunday, 1/13.  Monday to Thursday we'll probably have 6, so we have room on each of those days for 1 or 2 more players. On Friday we have only 3 players, so  @Shindig would make 4.

If you guys can let me know what your plans are, I'll do my best to coordinate.  As soon as Tom makes any tee times, I'll let you know.  I do know we'll be playing at Silverrock, we have vouchers from www.underpar.com for $90, good through 1/17.

I'm looking at a chilly rainy day here, I can't wait to see a warm sunny day in California!

    • Day 16: range night! Worked on long game for about 40 minutes, with a good solid 20 minute focus on my priority piece. Things improving there. Bookended that with some wedge and driver work. Finished up with about 30 minutes of short game. Working on distance control and all types of shots and lies. Short game is probably as good as it has ever been.
    • You should be able to install it yourself, honestly. You could easily blow it on and use some one-sided duct tape or something so it stays in place. That's what I've done with one of my grips.
    • Day 22 (12 July 26) - worked on putting tempo today using metronome for accurate tempo.
    • Hi all, My Edel putter seems to have developed a rattle.  I don't think it's a big deal, as I mostly hear it when I'm tapping down ball marks on greens.  However, I am debating getting it fixed, especially as I intend to play a lot of golf in August and September, and to continue playing regularly after that of course too.  My issue is I think fixing it would entail the fixer (golf shop repair station?) removing the grip and, presumably, applying a new one.  My problem is two-fold.   First, I like the grip on it, although after eleven years, maybe it's worth replacing.   The bigger (second) issue is getting the grip.  I don't like the flat-fronted putter grips anymore.  I have the round one on my putter, and I suppose I could buy one from Edel's website, but would a golf shop install a grip I bought elsewhere and brought in?  Or could they order one if Edel is not a supplier of theirs?  I don't recall ever seeing any Edel products in a Roger Dunn or PGA Superstore, although the era when I would go to a store and browse has long since ended (for better or worse).  I'd also wonder what the timetable is, as I'm leaving for a seven week trip in under three weeks. Any suggestions on what to do would be very welcome, whether about the rattle or the grip, together or independently.  Thank you!
    • I'm glad to know that picking up grass and letting it go doesn't help.  It felt like it shouldn't, but I'm glad to hear there's a good reason why.  It makes sense that wind is different higher up than it is near the surface. For a while, I was in the habit of checking the prevailing wind direction before playing.  That helped if I wasn't sure.  However, I still am not really sure whether something is a 5% wind or a 10% wind (and, of course, I know that a "helping" wind helps about half as much as the same wind hurting).   One of these days, I'll learn how to figure out what to do differently if the prevailing wind is 10mph vs 20 mph.
