I normally use my old Taylor Made RAC sand wedge to hit any short pitch to the green. I'm not always successful - sometimes I get no loft.

Today I walk into Golf Smith and pick up a Cleveland RTX 588 56 deg wedge and with ease every pitch flies nice and high.

Is this technology, or my imagination?

I use old Taylor Made clubs from eBay and golf shops.

Taylormade RAC is modern technology so I wouldn't jump to that conclusion after just one day. My guess would be.

  1. You were having a good day
  2. Cleveland SW had a swingweight/feel that is better suited to your swing
  3. You've only used it on mats this far.

Technology is basically the same. Might be the look, weight, grind, whatever, is just better for you than the TaylorMade wedge.

I hope it holds true after I purchase the club!

Better sole grinds can make for an easier hitting wedge, and more attention is now paid to grind. I think most have also moved the COG closer to the center, instead of the heel, although most favor the heel side. Last I heard, only Edel makes the COG in the center.
