It looks like there's a larger field than usual that can win this year. You have your Big Three. Adam Scott just won back to back. Fowler is emerging. Watson is coming along. Lots of strong European players lurking in the background. As the piece below mentions, Mickelson can get hot.  Dustin Johnson tends to fade late, but you never know with his length. Or maybe someone comes out of nowhere. Who do you think is destined to wear the Green Jacket this year?

This means that we shouldn’t discount anyone – like Jason Day – who might be struggling going into Augusta. His play in the last year still stacks up with anyone on Tour, even if it takes him three months to kick into gear. More importantly, playing well at this point doesn’t guarantee anything for guys like Bubba and Phil Mickelson, even though it’s a positive indicator for their chances. Remember that Phil also won at the Houston Open in 2011 and entered Augusta coming off a win at the 2010 Masters before finishing outside of the top 10 for only the second time in his last thirteen Masters. One thing is clear however, Phil’s golf game – with a hot March or not – is finally looking strong to capture another green jacket.

Kill slow play. Allow walking. Reduce ineffective golf instruction. Use environmentally friendly course maintenance.

Could be an amazing masters with Scott coming in hot, Rory starting to fire, Speith coming back after breaking records last year, Bubba contending most weeks and Mickleson looking strong. Throw in Ricky Fowler and maybe (hopefully) Justin Rose and it could be one to remember for a long time.

I think Bubba or Phil will win again. I just think they suit the course so well. The course gives them a big advantage.

Jason Day, or Rory McILroy

Hi there

I think it might be a bit of a outsider I like the way Danny willet has been playing the last few season playing more consistent and won afew events, I can't see him never winning a major, plus I don't think you can discount Lee Westwood never won a major it's about time he did.

A lot of folks in fine form so it's hard to pick one.  I do believe it'll be one of the favorites though.  These guys have too much of a track record at Augusta.  The only way some outside the list below wins is if weather is involved.

Jordan

Rory

Adam

Jason

Bubba

I put $20 on Watson to win @ 5/1. He had the higher return odds, so I figured why not.

Even year Bubba (meme)
top names - throw them in a hat and draw one (Jordan, Rickie, Jason, DJ, Phil, NOT Tiger)

List of names that are not frontrunners: Oostie, Willett oops baby daddy, Walker, DeChabeau (will have at least one very good round, but will fade), Rose, Matsuyama and NOT Tiger

Players play, tough players win!

I say between Rory, Day, Spieth and Adam Scott, will be the winner.  And two of these guys will be in the top 3

What's in the bag

  • Taylor Made r5 dual Draw 9.5* (stiff)
  • Cobra Baffler 4H (stiff)
  • Taylor Made RAC OS 6-9,P,S (regular)
  • Golden Bear LD5.0 60* (regular)
  • Aidia Z-009 Putter
  • Inesis Soft 500 golf ball

Scott, Watson and Mickelson have to be the favourites based on their early-season form and their history of success at Augusta.  Obviously Spieth can't be counted out but I wonder if this 'tired' thing is just a blip that he can overcome with some rest or if all the travel really affected his game.  I'm hard-pressed to pick McIlroy or Day given how both have fared this year, though naturally it wouldn't be a surprise if either had a big week.

Wild card prediction: Brandt Snedeker wins his first major.

    • Day 319 - More mirror work, same focus on finishing higher and more towards the target.
    • Day 135: worked on putting bead for a while with the 2 cups drill.
    • Day 211 (29 Nov 24) - Friday men’s round albeit a solo foursome (temps in the 40’s, day after Thanksgiving and the average age closer to 75 - I’m a youngster at 65).  Interesting day of semi-solid play (8 of 18 GIR). Hit all four par threes in one (a first) - parred each; still had a couple 3 putt bogies; and blew up on 3 of the par 5’s (go figure)). The blow ups were some serious tree rattlers - amplifying how I got stupid and greedy instead of smart and content to just get back in the short stuff.
    • Day 60 - 2024-11-29 Got about 3.5' of snow today, so I was going to go to Golf Evolution, but… I only left the house to throw some snow. Instead, i checked out my putting stroke on HackMotion in the basement. Turns out… it's pretty good, and I'm very in touch with what I'm doing.
    • First time playing this game, Spanish is my native language. It was impossible for me. After 4 worlds I run out of worlds that have the letters I've already found that can be combined with the remaining letters.. just repeated the 4th world to knew the answer. I know the world but it never came to my mind.
