Is a slight push with your irons a good way to play golf?

Iv'e gotten so sick of over drawing the ball left of the green with 5-6 irons that I have developed a push swing that's working! Today I hit a beautiful 6 iron 170 yards and land it 8 feet from the pin. It's controlled and I know that I wont over draw it. The problem is I feel like it's sawn of and maybe just a band aid however if it''s consistent then who am I to argue> I know I could get 180 out of the 6 if I hit a normal full high draw but it's usually 4 out of ten and that's a lot of missed green's tough pars and inevitable bogeys.

Jack Nicklaus played a push fade for most of his career. Any shot shape that is consistent is effective. I tend to hook as a miss too and I am working on eliminating that miss. I would suggest posting more video of your swing in your My Swing thread.

Ok but there are a lot of contradictions to what I was working on and what Im doing now I'd rather have a fresh perspective and make new videos.

No.

You get one Member Swing thread. The posts are all in order, and dated. People are not total morons. They can follow along.

I think I've mentioned this to you before, but everything you have mentioned lately about your swing suggest to me that you're swinging too far right.

You can get a lot of satisfaction from hitting picturesque golf shots. The scorecard only cares what number you write down. Figure out what you want out of your golf.

You read my mind, boogie. As long as you're consistent doing what you're doing, stick with it. Too many guys have screwed themselves up by constantly tinkering looking for that "perfect" swing. Just look at the different swings on tour. Many of them would not be taught by any PGA of America certified instructor. But, they work! Consistency and effectiveness are key!

    • However, have you ever considered using small summer houses for such setups? They offer a great solution for creating dedicated practice areas, especially for an affluent audience looking to enhance their outdoor living space.
    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.
