How do you orient your ball when you tee it up?

I'm really religious about this. I tee up pretty high, I use a long 3 1/4" tee and I barely stake it in the ground at a slight tilted angle backwards (for driver), usually on any other shot I use a broken tee and just push it in to sit my ball a little above the blades of grass, just enough to when I tee my ball I can barely slide an index finger underneath, maybe 1/4". Next, since I draw an orange smiley face on my ball as a marker, I point my little smiley face guy down the target line and hit him in the back of the head!

For drives I just plop it on the tee. The height of the tee is pretty much all I think about in that situation.

For putting though, I mark my ball with a red dot in a couple of the dimples on both sides of the ball. I just make sure that one is facing directly up as it gives me something to concentrate on during my stroke. I just try to push the aiming dot on my putter through the one on my ball and it usually is enough to keep all the technical thoughts out while putting.

No concern about it either on the tee or the putting surface.

Interesting topic. I had always teed up with the logos on the sides, one facing me the other facing away from. Right side up of course. Never wanted to see anything facing up and looking at me for fear of distraction. But reading some of these posts, I think I'm going to try something new.

i like the idea of lining the arrow up with my target line at address. I just sampled this on the carpet with a Bridgestone e6 - and let me tell you. This changes everything. Oh man, now the logos are running vertical on the sides not horizontal and readable as before. This might take some getting used to, not like moving pocket change from one pocket or the other, but visually wher I notice something amiss.

Cannot wait to try this tomorrow. Hopefully this is the cure all tip ive been looking for. Hopefully it won't expose my swing plain as an out to in path that doesn't resemble in the least the desired swing path

I don't orient my ball at all other than sometimes make a point to not put my sharpie markings right where I make contact, that way I don't smudge them.

Ha ha, same here.

I tried marking a line around the ball and using that to line up to aimpoints for putts.  What a hassle that was.  Hated and quickly abandoned that.

And, it now annoys me to watch someone micro adjust their ball three or four times to get the line on the ball aimed right.  Yeah Jim Furyk, I'm thinking of you.

So it's all white. I get distracted by markings.

Do they distract you when playing from the fairway?

I just kind of set it down. I never really paid attention to exactly how I placed it on the tee.
