Any tips to help me fix this. I put a ton of topspin on my drive. They roll out well but if I don't hit it perfect I shank it. Was dealing with that problem making up for it with my iron play but lately it's started spilling over into my iron game.

It's impossible to tell with you seeing your swing.

Ok. Will try this weekend. It's an ugly baseball swing as I used to play. It's always worked though! This has just recently became a problem.

This may not apply to you but I recently realized I was doing the same.  I'd get to the top with the face in a good position and then it'd be a million degrees open at impact. I developed a lower body whip to compensate so I never realized it until I tried to quiet my lower body.

Long story short - I had the wrong idea about what a shallow attack meant and I was doing the opposite of what I should be doing. I was literally trying to go horizontal into impact instead of vertical  - that's how it feels to me, anyway.

The thought that gave me the realization is to imagine you are standing in waste deep water at address. You want the handle to enter the water before the club head does. I was literally trying to have the club horizontal so clubbed and shaft hit the water at the same time. I was doing a good job of it, too...just was the wrong idea.

This has helped me quite a bit to come closer to a proper impact with correct face angle.

Hope it helps in some way

If I read this right. Your club face was open on impact? I'm rolling down almost. Closing the face as I hit.

Yeah - I roll mine open.  Once I stopped whipping my lower body forwards, my clubhead was coming into the ball hosel first, just about.  Massive shanks.

If you're closing your face then, obviously, disregard, lol.

As far as I know - it's not possible to put actual topspin on a golf shot unless you dead top it - what's the ball flight like?

Video is worth a million words - even if you don't post it and just review it yourself.

It is nearly impossible to hit a golf ball with top spin.  If you actually did, it would dive bomb into the ground very quickly.

My ball flight is low. Like my 8 iron may go 20 or so feet high. Lands and rolls out for days.

That's not good...it should be peaking around 90 feet. You are delofting the hell out of that thing.

Does it hook left at all?

You can de-loft the club with out rolling the wrist over if you have an excessive amount of forward shaft lean at impact.

Or thinning it . .or topping it . . I would be surprised if he is truly delofting it that much . .at least in the way that we normally think of de-lofting a club.

I'm assuming it starts left as well.
