I just saw these in a mail from another golf forum . .

Thoughts?  Feelings?  Predictions on if or when Bryson DeChambeau will put them in the bag?

Ha - they are super ugly, indeed.  I could maybe get past the looks but the shaft looks like it's too far back on the clubhead to me.  I definitely would never buy the first version of anything . .all my clubs are used.  But if it takes off and becomes more mainstream, I could see it being really great *if* they perform well.

Maybe not as a whole set but as kind of a utility wedge . .set it up based on the course conditions that day.

Just think, in the future, this will look really "old school" . .you'll think as you press the button on your uniclub 6 times to set it to 6 iron mode and start your pre-shot routine.

A club cannot be adjusted during a round. No?

Under current rules, no . . .

But when the uniclub comes out, they'll have to change the rules.  Imagine this - it's early saturday morning, you're uniclub starts beeping to wake you up in time for the tee time it booked.  You arrive at the range and call up your favorite practice preset - the club instantly turns into a wedge.  With each shot, you're getting audible and tactile feedback about your impact.  This is not allowed during actual play, though.

Then you head to the first tee.  You calibrate the uniclub based on the current weather conditions and call up your presets for this course - 2 degrees stronger throughout the virtual bag, a slight draw bias on the longer clubs.  Since there is no wind today, the uniclub will not adjust your presets for the weather.  As you step onto the tee, the uniclub instantly turns into a 3 wood.  "Nah", you say as you hit the override and select the driver . . .

When you're round is complete, you just plug the uniclub into your pc or connect to it from your phone to see detailed stats from your round.

btw - if I had an adjustable wedge I would totally adjust it during my round . .but I'm a cheater.

Old idea for sure. Can probably find the 80's adjustable travel clubs on eBay.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
