I watched the final playoff hole between Lovemark and Stuard.  Afterward, Nick Faldo mentioned Stuard would move up in Fedex Cup Rankings, but he didn't discuss much about it.  Does anyone know how they "prorate" the points for an event that gets cut off like Zurich did?

Full FedEx Cup and OWGR points are awarded for 54-hole events. If only 36 holes are completed, the results are considered unofficial.

I know there's a complicated chart that shows the point values for tournaments around the world. You get a certain number of points for it just being a PGA tournament, and strength of field factors in as well.  Nowhere on the chart or in the discussion of point values do I remember anything about prorating points for being a shortened event. I think a win is a win is a win. Could be wrong.

Was rooting for Johnny Vegas, but he placed 5th, not bad. Hopefully he can use this as momentum for high finishes to secure his card again.

Congrats to Brian Stuard (local Mid-Michigan "kid") for playing through the weather and getting his first win.
Nice way get back to full exempt status on the Tour.
Started the week ranked 513, not sure how points are affected by shortened events but he chould move up to around 130

Brian's swing just not do it for me. On the other hand, I guess my swing does not do it for me either:whistle:

I heard Faldo discussing this on Saturday or, most likely, Sunday with both rounds interrupted by weather. How far did the tournament actually go? I don't know. According to Faldo, the tournament has to go at least 54 holes to be considered an "official" win. If it goes only 36 holes, you still get your money and your Fedex Cup points, but you don't get all the nice percs like the invite to the Masters, and an exemption into the US Open and PGA.

Those things are important to young players, and older guys who have slipped a bit and are fighting their way back. The Zurich is a nice little tourney for the deep South, but it's not all that important, other than for the people who are playing in it!

54 holes. The cut was made Saturday morning, they played a few holes that afternoon before the rains hit, then Sunday was a complete washout.

Then I'm assuming they had to play Monday to make that 54 holes. That seemed to be the opinion of the PGA tour director. And Faldo asserted that the guys on the leader board would try like Hell to get it to 54 to make it an official event.

Ah- I was thinking OWGR, not FedEx Cup. My bad! I need to learn how to read better.
