As in sig, I use a good ol Rescue Mid that I like a lot, but after I buy a driver I probably will look at a 2 iron hybrid that would rotate in and out as a replacement for a wedge. I want to try the new PING hybrid, but at the moment the Rescue Mid and Sonartec MD are my favorites that I have hit. I also need to give the Heavenwoods a longer try. The hybrid irons have all been a bit out of my league.

Have you thought about or tried a Mizuno CLK with the graphite composite top? It is a super piece of equipment. My playing group all preferred it even over the MD. Our handicaps range from 2 to 18.

Just played my first couple rounds with the TaylorMade Dual TP. I'm very happy with at the higher launch angle it provides compared to my long irons. It has been a consistent 225-230 with all carry. The only thing I'll miss with my 2-iron is that it was a very reliable club off of the tee. I'm hoping the TP will give me that as well in time.

Fairways and Greens.

It won't. If my experience parallels yours, you won't be able to hit those low stingers you could off the tee with the 2I. That's the one fault I can find with the club.

Traditionalist here. A few weeks back I was so frustrated with my 3 iron (which has always been one of my favorite clubs) I was actually considering one. I was looking into Titleist's 503H, cause it has the iron look. But, now I've got my 3-iron back into working order.

........ Give me your most comprehensive review of the club once you get it. PLEASE.... I desperately need a hybrid club. Not having one HAS helped me learn to hit my 3 Iron but I really wish I could go for more par 5's or be closer to the hole when I can't hit my driver. My game is getting better so quickly these days, I think its because I get free balls at the range now that I'm an employee there

and I really think some new equipment could plug some gaps that are still in my game... I remember messing up my second shot on a par 5 with my shitty 3 wood... there's a really troublesome stream on that hole so I hit a 3 iron off the tee PERFECTLY but I still had a lot left to the water... 3 wood would have been a little risky but a utility or something could have made life a lot easier... unfortunately, I ended up with a double or something like that...

Well, Rich, all indications are that it will be available in the spring, and we'll give it a go around then.

I have been using a Nickent 3DX Ironwood 17 deg hybrid for 8 months now and would never try and hit an equivalent iron. I love the versatility of the club, grip down and use it for punching below tree limbs or out of thick rough. I find that I get a strong draw when I middle it whereas I tend to have a straighter ball flight with my irons. Does anyone else notice that??

As you can tell by my signature, I'm currently carrying 2. I actually hit my long irons very well, but it's hard to argue with how much more forgiving and more versatile the hybrids are. The 23* covers for my 3-iron and then some. I can play it out to 215 comfortably, and get it airborne. I can make that shot with my 3-iron but not nearly as consistently or effortlessly. I can get 230+ of carry out of the 18.5 with no problem.

Moree Golfer,

I feel the exact same way about my Nickent DC. My worst days with my Nickent are far better than my best days with the old 2 iron.

Just picked up a 19* Ping G5 Hybrid last week as part of a new set of irons. Ths was to replace the 3i. I have only played two rounds with it and had one visit to the range but all I can say is wow! Very easy to hit. My last few shots seems to draw more than my normal shot so I may play around with ball positioning to straighten it out.

As I've mentioned in previous posts in other threads, I find the Cobra Baffler an easy club to hit well. I use the 24* model, which replaces my 4 iron. I hit it so much more consistently than its iron equivalent. Day before yesterday, I was playing my home course and I hit my partner's Callaway 20* Heavenwood. I really liked it. Again, the primary characteristics I noticed was the ease with which one could get the ball up in the air and, secondly, how easy it was to hit the ball straight.
