I am looking at bringing my 8 year old daughter to the BMW Classic practice round.  She loves golf and Ricki Fowler.  It have never been to a practice round but think it would be a good way to introduce her to an event.  Also, at 25 bucks if she only lasts a few hours that would be fine.

Has anyone attended the practice rounds?  Am i thinking right on bringing her here first or is it not something worth visiting?

if this thread should be in another area please let me know.

You're saying $25 for your ticket right? I think she's free.

Anyway, it's pretty straightforward. She should have a great time.

My dad brought me to a practice round when I was younger and fell in love with golf just from watching them prepare how they were going to play the course. Remember to let her ask questions about what players are doing and why, she'll remember it forever.

Have fun!

Yeah, that is for my ticket.  I am taking my father in law later in the week but those tickets are around $75.

She could get in free that day too but I am hoping a practice round may be a little more child friendly. I am not worried about her behavior, I just want her to have a positive experience.

I took one of my Grand Daughters to a LVI shin dig several years ago. She had a blast. Her favorite player was a caddy. Fluff Cowens. He was Furyk's caddy at the time, and she got meet and talk to him while they were on the practice green.

Out of the mouths of youngsters. At one point during their talk she told him she was glad that he had a nicer boss now. Fluff was very cordial, as he kept sharpening his pencil.

I asked her later why she liked Fluff so much. She told me he looked like someone's "G-Pa".

Kids can always find something good at sporting events.

My friend took his Son to a practice round at the old World Series of Golf, now the WGC Bridgestone at Firestone in Akron many years ago. He was about your daughter's age, and they followed Fuzzy Zoeller, since he was the kid's favorite golfer. He liked his easy going, wise cracking style.

Apparently Fuzzy wasn't putting well, and the other guys were razzing him about it. On one green they pointed to my buddy's Son and said Fuzzy should let the kid hit the putt for him. So Fuzzy called him up on the green and let him hit the putt! Then Fuzzy took a pic with him, and he still has it framed on his wall. Thrill of a lifetime!

You should absolutely bring her. You should also follow Phil Mickelson, if he/she catches his eye he'll give them a ball or occasionally a glove. Most pros want to see kids out there.

I agree with all the rest, take her to the practice round and have a great time.  Practice rounds are great, the players are pretty relaxed, and the crowds are generally smaller.  Just remember there's a bunch of walking involved.  I've always liked to figure out where a couple of good groups are playing, and find a good place in a grandstand a hole or two ahead.  Once those "interesting" groups get through, I can skip a few more holes ahead and see them again.

Have a great time!
