I'm hoping someone might be able to help me authenticate these irons. I've searched for hours on the internet and can't find any data, other than at the PGA equipment resale website (which had very little information). I'm curious to know if they were production Tommy Armour clubs, or perhaps a limited beta run... Any help offered will be greatly appreciated! Mahalo from Kona.

Looks like they were regular production run clubs in 1998.  Here's a link to all the Tommy Armour clubs - https://www.golfworks.com/images/art/TommyArmour.pdf

Thanks for the info. I have searched online and the photo of the 845 Ti face irons described at golf works doesn't match mine. I guess that's why I'm curious about what I've bought.

Look on ebay, there's a bunch for sale that look just like yours. Probably the best place to look at market values for clubs.

Thanks. I did see two offerings on eBay. What I'm really looking for is some kind of description by Tommy Armour that authenticates them. I guess at the end of the day, if they play well, it doesn't matter.

I showed the irons to the head pro at my local club today. It was his opinion they were knock-offs. Can anyone comment or confirm? As an aside, they hit pretty pure...knock-offs or not.

Try an internet search for Tommy Armour Golf. I Know that they bought Ram Golf in the early 2000s... I'll see if I can find any info for you.

Ok this will probably be merged with my previous post.

This 845 Ti irons are a club made after 2008. Whomever owns Tommy Armour  Golf now, basically turned it into a package set company.

If you go onto their website tommyarmourgolf.com they literally only have 4 products listed.

Thank you. I have spent several hours surfing the internet, looking for more info on these clubs-up to and including the Tommy Armour site (sad that the company is doing so poorly). What I can't reconcile is that there is no info (with photos) about these specific clubs. The 845s Ti can be found everywhere but they look very similar to the Silver Scots, but with Ti faces. The clubs I have look vastly different...so much so, the head pro at my club took one look and said, "yeah, they're knock-offs." At this point I'm just curious. I've already bought them for a fairly low price. I've hit them (fairly well). Hopefully someone will stumble across this post and have some insight. Thanks again!

It's sad to see the direction that Tommy Armour went...

It's a similar story to what happened to Orlimar.

Tommy Armour really went downhill after the Silverback series, they were ok, but they were not as good as their previous offerings.

It is damn near impossible to find any specs on any previous models of the "New" Tommy Armour... @KonaGreg have you tried contacting Tommy Armour? I'm not sure if you can e-mail them, but it's worth a shot...

Not a bad idea. I'll see if I can contact them. Thanks.

So, I tried to find a way to contact Tommy Armour. Suffice it to say that their website exemplifies the state of the company.

@KonaGreg, has the death of Sports Authority happened, so did the death of Tommy Armour golf. So contacting Tommy Armour golf is damn near impossible now because they don't exist.

So I'm going to try to look through the archives and try to help you out and see if I can find any more information on these irons and see if I can find anything out. They are legit brand they just were bought out by Sports Authority back within the last 10 years or so.

So as the death of Sports Authority have in the ability to find any information on these clubs disappeared with it.

Sports Authority purchase this brand within the last 10 years or so. They are legit Club in the specifications are the same as the 845 on their website as of right now.

So Sports Authority supervised the production runs of these clubs.

It is similar to Golf Galaxy with Nickent Golf, Dick's with Top-Flite and so on.

The Sports Authority owned the brand. I'm hoping a company picks them up, like Eidolon picked up the Ben Hogan brand. (Which believe it or not was owned by Spalding at one point, until like Nike got out of golf)

I hope this helps.

Why would anyone waste time making knock offs of Tommy Armour 845s?

Component Companies did, back in the early 1990s. To take advantage of the "features" of a product, and sell it at 1/3 of the price to reach more golfers.  Component Companies do it now, but that's definitely :offtopic:. If you want a more definitive answer PM me sometime.

Any knock off is made because you are hoping to be able to sell it for more than you could under your own XYZ brand that nobody has heard of.  Any brand with some market value will see knock offs if it is profitable to do so

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
