Here's another really solid way to use the Chili Wacker. This one may be one of my favorites.

I liked the idea of the CW from the start, but this one sold me. At home, I stick alignment rods in the ground as reference points to check hip position during the swing... but I can't do that at the range because it's just mats and concrete. (Plus, I now have a video of you practicing my priority piece, so big thanks for that! )

The price is definitely prohibitive. Although, I'm a true "hacker" at heart, not just in golf, and may not be the best sample. Besides the cost savings (in this instance, "uuuge"), I prefer the customization I could get from building my own. Would be a fun project for the kids, too, and then (maybe) they'd want to use it. ;-)

And just to mention, I'm not an avid photographer but I do have three tripods (for "normal" cameras and telescopes)... in my wife's eyes, it's another tripod. :-D

It comes in super handy. I used it for this just last night. The wall drill is great, but when you move away from the wall it's still nice to have something students can continue to use as a reference point.

He was setting up a bit farther from it later on in the lesson when this video was recorded, but you can still see that it was useful for the trail hip motion (initial "before" on the left):

Well, I do encourage you to support the guys who come up with these ideas. You could perhaps email and ask about a tripod-less option. The top support and bar with the sliding things is really well made.

That seems cool for an instructor or something but i dont see myself carrying that around with me. Im moving around the facility too much. I like that thing that looks like two yardsticks . It helps you with diagonal sweetspot and ball striking. That is probably the best thing ive seen for path training stuff. I have no idea where to get one. If i see it out one day, it will come home with me for sure. I think it will fold up and go in your bag even.

I agree that it may be more for instructors and more serious students.

https://chiliwacker.com - That's where you can get it.

The two yard sticks things is probably the VisionTrack. Pretty sure @iacas sells them or can tell you where to buy them.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.

    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
