watching my own videos, made me realized how long i take to swing lol...

i noticed a chicken wing on left arm and way over swinging on the backswing.

Can someone please give me feed back on my swing?

So…

I'd work on two things (they go together).

First, watch this video:

Then, consider this image:

1 50%.jpg

Because you extend your back so much (and your hips sway a bit back too), that helps the elbow get so far around your body. What you want to do is a bit of this feeling:

Your upper back will feel a bit more rounded, softer, more bent forward (toward the chest) and this will help keep your elbow in front of your shirt seam instead of pulling around behind it.

Thanks for the feedback!

Just to clarify, i should be working on keeping my elbows in front of my shirt seam. (keeping the triangle between the arms and chest in one solid piece, instead of stretching/distorting it at the top of my backswing)

And also work on the wall drill to help me get a secondary axis tilt on my left leg creating a forward hip bump.

Correct?

Pretty much. A lot of the left arm running on too far and the right elbow getting around behind you is due to the way you're tilting toward the target at the top.

Just my couple of cents...

at around 6.5 seconds of video 2 (DTL) when the shaft is parallel to the ground it looks to be way too far inside.  From there it looks like you pull it pretty severely up to get it to the top of the backswing.  I only bring this up because when you are off you said that you fade or slice the ball.  I believe that bringing the club too far inside on the backswing does promote a slice.

I also didn't see that third waggle and not returning to address you described in the other thread.

Yeah this video had a very weird feeling for me lol. I was thinking about the wrist hinge and hold and doing my third waggle and that's all i thought about. It messed me up a bit.  I think it's the first time video jitters. Didnt feel very natural to me, so i just tried to "swing" without all my steps. And after watching the video, i noticed i take a long time to prep for the swing, i FEEL i usually dont take this long and also the hinge and cocking seem exaggerated to me, but who knows, the video shows more than what i feel.

i'm going to work on those 2 drills that iacas has provided and also trying to keep the club head in front of me on the takeaway.

@iacas couple questions regarding the elbow.

Tried this at the range and it's VERY hard to keep checking if the elbow goes past the seams. Any training aids i can utilize to indicate the backswing is maxed out and any further is my arms just breaking down?

I was thinking about programming a few button bluetooth sensors and sticking them on my elbow and inseams and program a light bulb to light up everytime it passes the inseams.

Or recording and reviewing is the only way?

2nd question, should i work on 2 drills together or just one at a time?

I'd work mostly on the wall drill stuff for now.

Keeping the shoulders rounded and soft will help with the elbow a bit. Arching your upper back retracts your shoulders.

my body is open at address (i felt closed)

at impact the club is open

chicken wing after impact?

Looking at your latest face on video the big thing that stands out to me is your setup for your irons looks like a driver setup. You are angled backwards like you are trying to create lift on the ball through impact. Try setting up with no spine tilt. Don't worry about creating lift, the angle of the club face will do this for you. You want to feel like most of your weight is on your front foot (left foot) through impact not hanging back on your back foot.

Also, are you standing on pavers? Try standing on something where your feet can grip.

I thought spine tilt was required for a proper swing, maybe i am over doing it.

Yes Pavers, i'm waiting to get a tamping tool to flatten and then relevel the surface, its a bit uneven right now, but the real feel mat strip is good.

Hi there @hack2scratch, I noticed a couple of easy things for you to work on.

First is posture. I would like to see your eyes more on the ball with more arch in your upper back. Your upper back is too straight causing your eyes to drift up and you are looking at the ball from the bottom of you eyelids.

Screen Shot 2017-04-18 at 8.49.48 PM.png

Here is a good thread on this.

Second is how you start your hands in the backswing. You pull the club inside and don't move your hands in. You move the clubhead in but not the hands. This causes you to open the face. Once you open that face and get the clubhead behind you, you are gonna have to make multiple compensations to get it back into a square position. The most common of these compensations is flipping. You need to work the hands in and keep the club in front of you on the backswing.

A good resource for this is this thread.

Keep updating with videos and post around. Lots to learn here.

Working on my swing and leading with the hips. So far I can go to the top of the backswing, shift the weight to the back left heel by thinking "crush the cockroach" and then keep turning the hips to complete the swing. This causes me to pump my arms at the top of the backswing which seems unnatural to me.

I did lower my ball flight and I can feel the compression, which makes me very happy. But now the slice is back instead of straight or small fade.

I either straight draw it or block right slice completely. I don't have a video with a front on view but a dtl view.

Now that I look at the swing, seems the same as the others. Practice swing only but shows what I was trying to work on. My backswing still looks too flat and the follow through goes more steep (does this cause the fade?)
