Is this a good method for getting a good bend at setup ?

No. Not really.

Read that thread. Compare and contrast…

It seems to me like the video agrees with that thread, at least as far as how your posture ends up. I think she's advocating starting out with the incorrect posture so you can move away from it into good posture. What am I missing? Just that the first part is unnecessary? Or is she not advocating enough posterior tilt?

She's advocating for a "straight back" among other smaller things (chin up?).

Yes, it doesn't make any sense. Just do it right when you address the ball. The more adjustments you add the more complicated it makes things.

Using the initial tilt is fine to determine a "neutral spine angle." I would not straighten the back to flat to swing but find the middle of the tilt and flat back and stay there.

Thanks.  I found it interesting because I've had to remind myself to "activate" my core stomach muscles at address in the past. I have a long torso which, combined with a core that is not as strong as it should be, has led to lower back issues.  Sometimes my back muscles take over when they shouldn't  (not just in golf). This sounded like a potential checkpoint but if it doesn't make sense I won't do it.

    • Day 211 (29 Nov 24) - Friday men’s round albeit a solo foursome (temps in the 40’s, day after Thanksgiving and the average age closer to 75 - I’m a youngster at 65).  Interesting day of semi-solid play (8 of 18 GIR). Hit all four par threes in one (a first) - parred each; still had a couple 3 putt bogies; and blew up on 3 of the par 5’s (go figure)). The blow ups were some serious tree rattlers - amplifying how I got stupid and greedy instead of smart and content to just get back in the short stuff.
