What is your "go to" adult beverage of choice?

@rehmwa We hit the casinos a lot and those that have a beverage stand, usually do not have Dr Pep.per, but have Pibb instead. Very similar.  otoh, I think all the bevs are a syrup base.

A reasonable substitute in emergency situations.  Yet still, it breaks my heart, nay it crushes the soul, to have to consider anything but the original.  We need to make "Sodas Great Again".

WINNER - and a little water with the scotch is just dialing in the perfect flavor - (for me, the peatier and smokier = the better)

anyone claiming to be a 'purist' that doesn't custom with water or ice, is just a poser that doesn't understand proper scotch drinking (playing with water content can take a good complex scotch and make it an entire range of experiences).......

First choice is red wine.  I'm acquiring a bit of a collection.  Some good Pinots, a lot of Italian reds from the Piedmont from my last trip over there.  Barolo, if aged and decanted properly, is phenomenal.

Beer - the darker, the better.  Love stouts.  German wheats are great as well.  I loathe IPAs.

Cocktail - Gin and Tonic

Whiskey - I'm not an expert here but the best stuff I've ever had was some Clynelish 29 year old single cask.  A very nice Scotsman I met at a conference shared it with me as well as some Laphroaig.

Aged rum, neat or with one small ice chip, prefer pot stilled and full bodied such as Appleton Extra from Jamaica or Mt. Gay Extra Old from Barbados.
