So my Mizuno MP67's have DG S300 shafts in them.  I like them and have them in my Miura's.

I got some Mizuno wedges for Christmas and they have DG Spinner shafts in them.  This will be the first set of irons I have that do not have the same shafts in all of them.  Will this be an issue?

Does anyone have any feedback for these shafts?  How about anyone playing these in their wedges but different shafts in their irons?  I want to take them out and try them but have not had the chance yet.  I have been chipping plastic balls in the house and so far they feel pretty good.  Not sure if they will feel/act differently in the grass with real balls.

DG Spinner shafts aren't all that different from the usual S300. Spinner shafts are made exclusively for wedges, and just have a different profile that is designed to increase ball spin. Honestly I wouldn't worry about it, and definitely wouldn't replace them.

Thanks Jamo.  I read somewhere that some didn't like them and wanted to replace to match the rest of their irons.  I will give them a shot to see how they play.... is it spring yet?????

I really like DG Spinners.  I have both 124g and 131g weights fit in my wedges.  Took a couple of weeks to get used to them.  Best suited for a quick tempo swing specs say.  But with that high bendpoint section it really kicks up the RPM's.  I like the heavy feel and swing weight.  Even tried them in a few practice clubs up to an 8i :).  Interesting but different result.

DG Spinner has dynamics similar to the Cleveland TRAction (Tour Reflex Action) wedge shafts which were standard in most wedges of the CG series. The TRAction shaft was about 125 grams, stiff, and softstepped to increase spin on partial shots, with a thicker butt section to keep shot launch lower.

As for Spinners, the promo says that Spinner shafts "...create an optimal bend profile for increased spin and lower launch angle." (Golfworks Catalog 2015, p. 107).

The 124 g = Wedgeflex for SW and LW, and 131 g = Wedge+ for PW and GW.

I've test-hit Vokey wedges with Spinners, and they had a very smooth feel to them. But, as noted above, probably best for someone with quick swing tempo.

Thanks for the info.  I will have to look at the bands to see if they say Wedge or Wedge+ as I have a 52 & 58.  Would guess they would be GW & SW.

I have never owned a Cleveland club so I am not familiar anything from them.  Good to hear they feel smooth... me like!

Thanks for the info.  What do you have those shafts in?  48, 52, 54, 56?

Glad to hear someone likes them as I read a few didn't like them and I was worried I wouldn't.  I guess I have to go out and play them.  I will give them a chance as you mentioned it took a bit to get use to them.

Did you get a lot more action out of the ball once you had them dialed in?  I was pretty good with my Eye 2 PW & SW.  I just didn't like the huge loft gap between them.  I did try throwing in a 54 to fill the gap but never really got comfy with that club.

First, I'm not the best golfer around with many flaws.  Ive tried club changes and shafts, course instruction, and club builder/fitter guidance through my journey marred by a few stops.  That said, for me I pulled the stock KBS stiff shafts from my TM Rocketbldz Tour AW and PW heads.  Spined and installed the new DG Spinner 124 in the AW and the 131 in the PW.  The high kick point trajectory was for a lower ball flight pattern based on the spec but my ball flight pattern was consistently much higher.  The first ball I hit I lost it as it went up while I was looking out.  Was a weird feeling.

Fitting back at Trackman showed a marked increase in RPM.  Also hit the club on a simulator with increase in RPM.  I needed a short club to spin the ball more and get a little higher on a full swing to try and stop on the green closer to the ball mark rather than the lower trajectory shot I was hitting.  I've tried them in other clubs also, up to an 8i, but the standard swing weights go off.  There might be a slight distance change also with the wedges on full shots.

I have one in my Scratch sand wedge, 56 degrees and it feels like most any other shaft and spins the ball good.

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.

    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
