Snook yes. Redfish are often "a good pull." I'm not talking about the ocean redfish, more the shallow area lagoon type.

I did all of my fishing from a kayak. Even the shark.

Now that looks like a good time. Yeah I’m sure I’d like that. Certainly gives it more of ‘sport’ feel rather than trudging through brush.

Trudging through brush? This you discount? Sometimes you have to pay for your sport! I've slogged through some Godawful stuff just to get to a decent fishing hole, with no guarantee of success!

Snook are beasts. Powerful and smart. One minute you can throw bait at them and they'll just turn their nose up at it. But when the tide is right they go apeshit and hit anything that moves.

The nice thing is that you can hook into one from almost any shoreline from the middle of the state and south. The Tampa Bay area is ok but the further south you go the better the snook fishing gets IMO.

You don't have to fish from a boat (or kayak), but you can certainly get to more spots like the mangroves. Really, almost any bridge or dock will likely have snook hanging around. Marinas are another good place because of the cover. I've even caught smaller snook in brackish water creeks and canals.

Salt water fishing is one of the few things I miss about Florida. You just never know what will hit. I caught and released this little gag grouper from right off the dock in the inter-coastal last month:

Here ya go. Nice fish.

Thanks for merging it I knew I had seen one somewhere, I was searching for the term "fishing" in the title and not "fisherman" oops.

That's a really nice pike. A 20" smallmouth is equally impressive. Hook something like that on an ultra-light rig and it's a lot of fun.

By all means... more pics please.

Thank you! Here are a few more

My dad's 32" 8lb pike

His 20" 4lb smallmouth

Here is one of my larger smallmouth, it was either 18 or 19" and in the low 3lbs range.

Here is a cool shot of one of my smallmouth that absolutely slammed the topwater lure. I casted in a few feet from shore, watched a big swirl come out from under a tree and then a split second later it was on the line.

I don’t care what anyone says, bigger smallmouth bass like those in your pics are a lot of fun to catch.

That’s nice that you were able to spend time with your Dad and even better that you did so well fishing. Thanks for sharing.

I now want to go out and buy a new outboard for my 12’ boat.
