Not sure if this is the right place to post this but I have a buddy who used to live in the Augusta area (past 5 years) and he claims that if you show up on Saturday or Sunday at the Masters that some people are leaving town/had enough of golf and will sell their tickets to the tournament. He has gotten in the past few years this way (even has pictures to prove it). Can anyone on the board tell me if he is full of s&!t?

My bag:

Taylor Made Burner 2 irons (stiff)

I can't speak for Saturday or Sunday, but I do know that it happens during practice rounds and on Thursday and Friday. Would make sense that it happens on the weekend, too.

I would assume he's being truthful but I would say though that this is the kind of luxury only a local would have.  Way too risky to try and go down there from out of town I would say though.

Reminds me of a story I read a few years ago about getting a good deal on a Super Bowl ticket from a scalper if you were willing to wander over there at, or even slightly after, kickoff.  You hold all the cards because you can just turn around and walk/drive home and watch on TV - you're not the one stuck with an unsold ticket if nobody wants to buy it.  If you travel from out of town, however, you don't have that kind of leverage.

Yeah I know some guys in the ticket business and this logic applies to almost any sporting event.  That new badgeCapture.JPG.18c8e60e32746d63fbb87fdaad25a451.JPG sure does look nice.

1/2 mile radius. I wonder how they enforce that?

The article states "The sheriff’s office will designate officers working around the golf course to look out for ticket scalpers along with their other duties."  It sounds like they take it pretty seriously.

They just move farther down the road and set up their sign and sell the ticket(s).

Nothing uncommon.
