My friends are tired of my rehashing this story, but.....

My buddy and I are playing a round - both of us are horrible (neither have ever broken a 100) - and a foursome come up behind us. We tell them they can play through.

Since we had already shot our tee shots, we park about 100 yds or so from the tee box. From where we were parked you can't even see them teeing off. I decide this is a good time to check the phone in case wifey called.

BAM! My phone falls out my hand. Turns out the dude at the tee box hits a shot that hits the tree I was standing next to, it bounces off the tree and hits my phone!!! What were the chances?!?! Of all things, anywhere on the course, the timing of me pulling the phone out, where I was standing...etc etc.

The phone falls, not only cracks the screen but it goes totally black. Insult to injury..every 5 mins or so the phone chimes the T-mobile sound trying to reboot.

That's some bad karma, especially since you were courteous enough as a two-some to allow a faster four-some to play through!

Since the golf gods didn't deem fit to recognize your conduct, I will.  Kudos!

Thanks David! Golf gods dont seem to like me, if only they knew I'm a super guy haa.

I didn't initially want to complain in my story but since you mentioned courtesy: Two of the guys drove up looking for their ball, and I pointed where it was - four feet away. I told them what happened, not to complain or anything, it was just completely bad luck, no one's fault (except they should've yelled "Four")...they got super shady and said it was the other 2 guys, and drove to them and never returned back. A simple apology would've been nice.

Oh well, $120 and a new screen later, I have a war story. ha.

Don't believe it unless you have video evidence...even then, it may not be proof.

My phone didn't get hit, but a similar thing happened to me last year. We teed off on a tight Par 5. One friend and I drove up to find his ball on the right side. Another friend got to his ball on the other side of the fairway. He pushed his 3W really far right and it careened off the back right upright of our cart and ricocheted off the two front uprights and back to the fairway. Somehow it missed both of us in the cart.

All we could do is laugh!

I thought this was going to be a story about a hole in 1 on a par 5. I saw on TV the other day where the long drive guys were trying to cut the corner to a green on a par 5 that required something like a 340 yard carry over water. One guy got hole high and had something like a 30 ft. putt for double eagle I believe. But if he was hole high... he could have possibly made a hole in 1. Pretty sure that's 1 in 1 billion lol.

This is very similar to a story I have.

me and some buddies were playing at the Harvester golf course in Iowa last year.   On hole #18, its a par 5 that goes around the lake.   but..  It's like 315 to cut the lake straight to the green.   One buddy, who is a monster hitter, goes for it.  lands on the green about 12 ft from the pin.   Unfortunately, missed the alabatross putt..   but, tap-in eagle is nice.

course website here, which has a pretty good pic of the hole.

even more fun to see on the google earth.

on the map above.   Click the earth button on the lower left.   then pull the map down and to the left a bit.   The hole is at the far north end of crab tree lake.
