Hi, I was looking at the spreadsheets on protourgolfcollege.com and I like the idea of tracking data like them however I heard people on this site question their program.  Is there anywhere where you can pick up similar spreadsheets for tracking practice and challenge data?  Thanks

Thanks for replying.  I may try using this one for rounds however  I was looking for one that measured progress in practice challenges like  short game  10 balls at 10 yard increments within ____  feet of target. Putting from various feet. Driving within an imaginary fairway etc. then compared results on the same tests through the season.  I might try to make one myself but then I have to come up with test protocols myself.  No use reinventing e wheel if someone else has done it?

thanks again

I'm curious.  Why not simply play golf, and track the commonly used statistics from your actual rounds?  Fairways, GIR, putts per GIR, scrambling, etc...

Stats, along with a valid, accurate handicap should give you everything you need to chart progress and determine where your opportunities lie.  No?

By the way, welcome back!

I seem to remember that you joined the site some time ago but haven't been too active.  I remember the user name because along with golf, I run triathlons and wondered if it was an interest of yours as well....?

Regardless, it's good to hear from you again.  Stick around!

Thanks david,

I know there are a lot of different coaching and practice philosophies but for me it's also practical.  I get to play once a week but I can practice 5 days a week ( in the summer) I may only hit 10 drivers that round.  If I slice one ob My stats for the week are toast and show one mistake and not true progress.  Instead, if I can measure weekly success on 50 shots I have a better picture.  I also have trouble staying in the flow of a round while keeping stats that matter.  Like did I increase 3 puts because of putting or because of poor chipping pitching or bunker play.

Probably my 3rd reason is I like challenge in practice. For me, Things like this provide structure for that challenge.

I loved triathlons and did them for 15 years. Unfortunatly a back injury / surgery has kept me out for the past 4 years.  My son is really into golf so I'm having a lot of fun with him.  You know how crazy we are as triathletes and meticulous planning and tracking is part of the sport.

Thanks again

Which spreadsheets are you referring to?
I did not see any which resembles tracking stats?

It's part of their elite golfer improvment system.  Most of the site revolves around this system.

Thanks

Ok, did you join their program?

Or, are you looking for templates similar to those they list?

I was looking for templates similar to thiers. I'm not really interested in their plan.  I know I have tracked data like this when coaching different sports. I know I have seen similar assessment sheets and some of the tests are close to those on trackman, SAM and flightscope. That's why I thought there may be some speadsheets floating around.  If it's origional in golf though I may just buy their program. They deserve the biusness if they are doing something good and origional.

Thanks again guys

I have written an application using Excel which I use my data from Game Golf (data can be entered by user in any manner)
The fields are similar to the templates used at golf college, I breakdown the data in recent rounds (increments in five rounds)
use charts to show analysis, use GG analysis for comparison and create a summary review.
I track results mainly with putts made and missed by distance, proximity in both GIR and greenside play with sand play.
Other stats collected are birdies, pars, bogeys and dbl bog or greater, one putt holes, 3-putts, penalties, scoring per hole.

If you are interested, I'll post a few screen shots or send me a pm.

Very interesting screen shots and tracking there. I assume that you are having to manually take it from GG to Excel and there is not something I missed about being able to get access to the raw data or being able to export the data?

Thanks

That is correct. I use a template sheet and the round review takes a half hour to extract the data manually.
Hopefully someday access to the raw data will be possible. Then @RandallT and I will be in Heaven. lol

Great site for your junior golfers and thanks for sharing your spreadsheet.
My club is fortunate to have s great Junior Golf program.
I've been active in support and helping the past several years.
It was initiated by our Head Pro roughly 7 or 8 years ago.
I think the PGA is actively promoting Junior Golf very well nowadays.
And many clubs are adapting the Tee it Forward program which gives the kids a place to play.

    • Day 24 9-7 Worked on lower body movement with full swing. Focused on hips. Need to work on setup a bit. Was hoping to get to the short game area today, stayed home and recorded some swings instead. I've come to the conclusion I learn the most with my practice setup at home, just a net and a hitting strip. Overall happy with the progress this week.
    • Day 2 (September 7), still with the grip and the medicine ball (using weights).   Still on vacation and really aching to be able to do a full practice the way I'd be able to at home.  Also bought a 1/2" section of pipe today at the hardware store and have been regularly practicing the grip with that too while watching Sunday football with the family.
    • Day 1: Worked on feels for wedge swings. Primarily getting everything to move from the top of the backswing in the correct sequence.
    • Day 6 (7 Sep 25) - Afternoon pitch session with the 54 and 58 in the backyard. Keys: Alignment - Setup - Smooth swing thru - working on each to be as “automatic” as possible - not mindless, but deliberately repeatable. I have found the precision required to properly execute carries well into the full swings.
    • 180% is the threshold. But yeah, many of them are close to 200%. Not 120 and 123%. People generate speed differently. I think your speed will come more easily when this stuff gets sorted out. Stay disciplined. Stay on the road. You can't get off exit 74 before you hit exit 32.
