Lexi's Replacement in 2019

51 members have voted

  1. 1. Would Lexi's immediate replacement of a ball 0.7"+ away (while only lifting the ball a few inches) be considered "reasonable judgment"?

    • Yes, her replacement of the marked ball was reasonable.

    • No, her replacement of the marked ball was not reasonable.

It's all the advantage you need to avoid a spike mark or something.

Plus it was closer to three quarters of an inch.

I agree it was enough to avoid a spike mark.

In terms of a comparison with vehicles it's the equivalent of failing to stop completely at a stop sign on a deserted intersection.

Not stopping at a stop sign doesn't cost the player 1 stroke behind you a fair chance at $300,000.

No.

Not reasonable at all. Marker-ball-hole: straight line. It is not that hard to do. IMO anything over quarter a ball off in any direction even for a weekender should raise eye-brows.

OT: I don't know why didn't she just fix the damn depression? It was not a spike mark if the ball was sitting IN it. Tells me that this is usual practice for her and she didn't even think that this was not marking the ball properly.

How does anyone reach that level and not know how to properly mark and replace a ball?  There is something fishy about the whole affair.  I didn't see it happen, and I hadn't even heard anything about it until just now (had other things going with getting a new camping trailer ready for our first trip of the season), but incidents like this one just don't ring true.  Did she really think that it was okay to place the ball that far off?  I learned how to correctly mark and replace a ball long before I ever saw a rule book.

I don't either. I'm not sure why marking and replacing a ball (ostensibly on the putting green, at least around 99% of the time…) is included as an example.

FWIW, a penny is 3/4" in diameter. A quarter is almost a full inch across. A pencil eraser is about 0.2".

Before i got proper contacts to play in, i was probably missing that with my keratoconus quite a bit. She had no excuse, but I could see someone with bad sight missing those marks.

    • updated swing notes Setup - Same stuff. Good posture, weight in balls of feet, engage lower body more.  Backswing - Same stuff, hinge fully by P2 by using wrists. LBift left arm straight up to top of backswing. Control swing length, though it is way better. *Always a reminder 😊  Downswing - More of starting the downswing with lower body rotation. Getting the right hip rotating out towards the ball and around me, and the left hip goes back away from the ball and back around me. Straighten left leg as soon as possible. Still a bit of a struggle to do this.  Still the hand path and club going down behind me, feels like the right arm stays really wide and gets wider.  Though, I don't think I have poor hip flexor mobility. I stretch and move the crap out of them almost on a daily basis. It is part of my daily mobility routine for the past year.  This position is kind of wonky looking 🤣.  When I took my swing to that position and feel like I really sink my weight to the outside part of my left heel while extending the left hip more. I felt a big resistance from this area in the leg (sorry that is the right leg, blame Google). I was like, WTF! 🤣 Yea, more stretching may be needed. I wonder if I am avoiding that movement.
