I recently lost my wife to illness. She accompanied me golfing, and we loved traveling to interesting course destinations. I would still like to travel to such courses, but not alone. Does anyone know a legitimate match-up website to meet potential opposite sex golfing companions? I know some golf match-up/dating sites are robots and scams.

So sorry for your loss.  My daughter found her husband on Match.com.   Neither golf but I'm sure you could make that a priority in your profile.

From the land of perpetual cloudiness.   I'm Denny

Paging @jsgolfer.  If I remember right, his wife was on a golf/dating site (I hope I characterized that correctly).  He may have even met her that way.

I think, not 100% sure, but think that Match has partner sites that target more specific matches, including one for golfers...

My wife and I met while being Members of the American Singles Golf Association.

There are chapters in most large cities.  You sign up to play, they typically play Saturday's at local public courses.  And then there are national events, we went to Pinehurst a couple of times and they travel all over.  Hawaii, Scotland, etc.

Great time, no better way to find out about a person, then spending 4.5 hours on the golf course.  It was great fun.  Very few good golfers, but they like to have fun, which is more important anyway.

Thank you to all. I joined ASGA and will pursue the other sites mentioned.

FWIW - There are usually more ladies playing golf then men, at least at most of the events I went too.  They'll put you with a different lady every time you play.

A lot of dating match sites are activity specific. I used to belong to a motorcycle site, that was part of a national site with different sub-sites. I thing it was called Tango wire or something like that. Another pretty good site is Plentyoffish.com (not sure of the spelling). There was a motorcycle san diego based site that was run by a female. The idea was to match bikers up with female passengers/pillion riders but there were also a number of women who had their own motorcycles.

    • I call this diabolically genius, or just stupid if the refs called it right.  In the 2nd to last play of the OSU v Oregon game. Oregon, purposely put 12-men on the field because of the following.  1) It is called a 5-yard penalty 99.999999999999% of the time. I am not sure it has been called anything else in the history of college football.  2) It is a live ball foul, so the clock starts on the ref.  He did this to waste time. He knew 5-yards meant nothing towards a field goal, and it would waste something like 5-6 seconds by the time the previous play is over, and OSU snaps the ball next.  We all know proving intent is nearly impossible.  There is a rule under unsportsmanlike conduct,  "No substitute(s) may enter the field of play or end zones for purposes other than replacing a player(s) or to fill a player vacancy(ies). This includes demonstrations after any play" Now, he will always tell the ref it as an illegal substitution. If done on purpose, is not an illegal substitution, but unsportsmanlike conduct.  A kick in the teeth for OSU fans is, Ryan Day could have called time out and gotten the time out back.  "When the deep officials count 12 Team B players, both teams are in formation, no Team B player is attempting to leave the field and the snap is imminent, (a) the crew will offer Team A their time out back and penalize Team B for a substitution foul." What Day should have done is just called a time out and took the free yardage.  To give him credit, in a game where you are up by one, the other team is driving, you pull this stunt. You are banking on the opposing coach either not to know, or at least not remember in the moment that you can call a time out with 12 men on the field and retain your time out.
