or Senior Brain Fart........got a wild hair and took a bag of clubs to a local veterans store. Wilson Driver, Big Bertha 3w, Orlimar Driver (Hip Ti) with brand new grip, Ben Hogan Speed slots 1,4,5,7 woods (Laminated Maple), and a Ben Hogan Tour Bag (That is the name, not the style) - more like a Sunday Bag. Hope someone gets some good use out of them.

Very generous of you, and if the Veterans' store is what I think it is, you picked a good cause to support.

not sure what group. They have several large trucks in the back. Shoppers are mostly local Latinos and Asian, and me. II think it is Vietnam Vets, but would have to look.

There are people that make a job out of eBay. Your clubs might end up sold online.

I'd be surprised if some random want to be golfer comes and buys them.  But on the other hand I see nothing wrong with what you did. Although you didn't say, you probably don't use them anymore and needed to de-clutter.

I use old Taylor Made clubs from eBay and golf shops.

Is there a national veterans organization where we can donate clubs?

Phone directory?  I have not really looked into it, but names such as DAV, VFW. or Google would give you insight.

Yes, de-clutter was a factor.  I did use them from time to time, many picked up individually from the same veterans store, others on Ebay.  I think there were also a couple of irons in the bunch, Mcgregor VSP V-foil, Hogan edge 3 iron (cut down - no grip). I kept my Palmer Persimmon though, but won't game it although it is fairly easy to hit. It is in nearly pristine condition and will just keep for posterity. I would bet that these will be sold as a set in the bag (at least as far as the Hogan woods). Otherwise, normal prices are $6 or $7 per club, the bag would probably go for $10 or so. (if it even makes it inside the store.  I've taken things there before and never saw them especially if the truck un-loaders take a fancy to something.)

I work with an organization around me to take Wounded Warriors to golf tourney's called Salute Military Golf Association (SMGA), which provides golf clubs, clinics, and other things to Wounded Warriors.  I know they take donated clubs, but I think they have to be under 5 years old.

    • Feel like you are left side dominant. Keep the back of your glove running through impact. Keeps leading edge down without digging. You will pick them clean with some zip if the grass is nice and generally acceptable results off anything less than ideal. Works with both hingy or dead hand pitches and chips.
    • Day 52 (30 Apr 26) - Had planned a solo round, got invited to be part of trio that included a fmr mini tour pro.  Was fun playing back a set of tees and having to stay in my game plan. Both were very engaging and encouraging in the round.  A good day in working through and making smarter shot choices.
    • Day 576 - 2026-04-30 Put my playlist on and slowed down a little as things were meh. Mostly got to an exaggerated P6 and hit from there.
    • I mean, a golfer is trespassing and damaging property. So, golf rules don’t supersede state laws. 😉 Like, if it isn’t marked and is off golf property. The right thing to do is take an unplayable lie or take stroke and distance.  Also, this is a liability for the course. The homeowner could easily say the course is liable for damage done because they knowingly didn't mark their boundaries which allowed golfers to trespass and damage property.
    • Interestingly enough, if the course (the Committee in Rules terms) doesn't mark the boundaries, there is nothing out of bounds.  I realize that neighboring homeowners would take a dim view of golfers whacking balls from their backyards, but that's what the Definition of Out of Bounds requires. "All areas outside the boundary edge of the course as defined by the Committee."
