Hello!

I'm looking to change from standard size grip to midsize. I have played NDMC for a few years now and i think they are alright/good.
I looked around on a few forums and found that people liked the crosslines and i thought about giving them a go. The thing is i also read that the new crosslines isn't as good as the old ones?
I'm afraid that the good things i have read about the crossline only applies to the old crossline.

I'm also looking at some MC PLATINUM which looks good but i'm not sure they are worth twice the crossline.

These are the two i'm considering:

Lamkin crossline or MC platinum

Which ones would you go for?

Thanks in advance.

I've been using mid-sized grips since the late 20th century.  When Avon stopped making the X-Air, I switched over to Golf Pride Tour Velvet.  They are durable, inexpensive, and can stand a good scrub.  They are also fairly light.  I did put a CP-2 on my hybrid and I like it a lot...just not enough to swap out the others.

In der bag:
Cleveland Hi-Bore driver, Maltby 5 wood, Maltby hybrid, Maltby irons and wedges (23 to 50) Vokey 59/07, Cleveland Niblick (LH-42), and a Maltby mallet putter.                                                                                                                                                 "When the going gets tough...it's tough to get going."

I had the Lamkin midsize crosslines on my previous set of clubs. I installed them about 2.5 years ago, looked just like the ones in your link. Not sure if there was a compound difference between several years ago and 2017. My take...

they wore well, 2-3x a week play plus practice.

felt secure, even when wet with rain gloves on

I use the GP MCs in midsize throughout my bag, but a few times I've gotten Lamkin Crosslines installed stock on a few clubs and I was impressed. They were very cord-ish for not having cord. I can't speak to any recent changes they made though.

I think I'd go with the MCs, but you'll have to weigh how much the cost means to you.

In my bag:

Driver: Titleist TSi3 | 15º 3-Wood: Ping G410 | 17º 2-Hybrid: Ping G410 | 19º 3-Iron: TaylorMade GAPR Lo |4-PW Irons: Nike VR Pro Combo | 54º SW, 60º LW: Titleist Vokey SM8 | Putter: Odyssey Toulon Las Vegas H7

If you already like the GPMC's, why risk a fairly expensive mistake in the hope that the grass might be greener.

Change simply for the sake of change...?

    • Feel like you are left side dominant. Keep the back of your glove running through impact. Keeps leading edge down without digging. You will pick them clean with some zip if the grass is nice and generally acceptable results off anything less than ideal. Works with both hingy or dead hand pitches and chips.
    • Day 52 (30 Apr 26) - Had planned a solo round, got invited to be part of trio that included a fmr mini tour pro.  Was fun playing back a set of tees and having to stay in my game plan. Both were very engaging and encouraging in the round.  A good day in working through and making smarter shot choices.
    • Day 576 - 2026-04-30 Put my playlist on and slowed down a little as things were meh. Mostly got to an exaggerated P6 and hit from there.
    • I mean, a golfer is trespassing and damaging property. So, golf rules don’t supersede state laws. 😉 Like, if it isn’t marked and is off golf property. The right thing to do is take an unplayable lie or take stroke and distance.  Also, this is a liability for the course. The homeowner could easily say the course is liable for damage done because they knowingly didn't mark their boundaries which allowed golfers to trespass and damage property.
    • Interestingly enough, if the course (the Committee in Rules terms) doesn't mark the boundaries, there is nothing out of bounds.  I realize that neighboring homeowners would take a dim view of golfers whacking balls from their backyards, but that's what the Definition of Out of Bounds requires. "All areas outside the boundary edge of the course as defined by the Committee."
