Our best female player at Springfield G&CC just made the cut in Stage 1 of the LPGA Q-School at the Mission Hills CC in Rancho Mirage CA.  This gets her limited status on the Symetra Tour.

She finished tied for 38th out of 356 players, shooting 75-71-71-69 (-2).  That gets her to the second stage playing at the Plantation Golf and Country Club in Venice, FL (Bobcat and Panther courses).  October 19-22

I don't think mentioning her name violates her personal privacy. I will refrain from doing so even though the scoring is unique to one person.  It is cool to be acquainted with someone who is successful on any tour.  I know I followed the results for a few young ladies whom I played with or met when the Symetra Tour came to town (back then it had a different sponsor - Duramed).

She wouldn't care if I mention her name.  When she's not out playing in tournaments, she plays in the men's group I play in.  I'm hoping she fares well at the next stage, if she could hit the ball just a little farther.  She's around 230 off the tee, but deadly accurate.

BTW, Lauren Doughtie  - 2008 and Cindy Morris - 2005 are both current active players at my club.. EMCC. I have never been in the same group as Lauren when she plays in our weekend group but have played in the group behind her a few times.

And this is why I find women's golf so interesting. I know they're not as good as the guys - even at the skills that don't require power - but to have that much distance control and consistently hit accurate shots with longer clubs is just an amazing skill from my perspective.

I hope she does well in October.

    • Day 9, May 13.  After work, I went to my practice room for a dozen balls (two sessions of a half dozen each).  I may do more later, but I wanted to make sure I posted here too.  Same priority as yesterday, with the arms lifting.
    • Day 263 6-13 Setup alignment stick station for hands off body drill. Worked on wrist arch as well. Working on not hitting the stick 😀
    • Day 64 (13 May 26) - last practice of golf team for the school golf team….got to hit a few balls while working with the kids.
    • Hi @RetiredOldMan!  I am glad to see you are still playing and having good scores.  I hope that when I am 79, I am not only able to play, but still able to produce as good scores as you have been doing.   I look forward to hearing more of your success and your opinion of the senior flex shafts.
    • Hello Golfing Buddies, It has been awhile since I posted but I am the Retired Old Man that asked for advice because I suffered two "T.I.A.'s about switching from playing right handed to playing left handed.  I purchased a Callaway Edge Left handed golf clubs. I changed the grips to oversize grips.  Well, two weeks ago and still at 79 years old, I shot a 44 and 47 on a small course in my hometown.  I am currently changing my shafts from regular flex to Senior flex.  So, you can see' it can be done! So, you other old timers; get with the program! Blessings to all of you. Retired Old Man (Terry Warner)
