Just putting this out there for observation and discussion. So guessing most ams try and do Key #2 incorrectly, right intention, wrong execution.

3) Maybe the MOST IMPORTANT of all, the amateur has slid the pelvis WAY TOO MUCH LATERALLY towards the target where the professional only moved a few inches before opening up.

But over in this thread,

Quote

Hip Sway at Impact

Pros: 1.6" toward the target
Ams: -0.4" toward the target
Notes: This is measured relative to the setup position, and remember, the hips are rotating here and this measurement is still at the tailbone. So a tailbone that has AWAY from the target (think 12 o'clock at setup to before 11 o'clock at impact, or 36° per the above), has also slid several inches - the difference between 10:48 and 12:00 is made up for, PLUS an additional 1.6". The average golfer is not only rotating less (11:21), but they're not sliding their hips forward much if at all (11:21 may be close to -0.4"…).

So are these two studies comparing different levels of us amateurs, so they're getting different numbers and different conclusions?

The GEARS stuff looks like it's measuring one specific amateur and one specific pro, whereas the GolfTec numbers are averages.

I'm not really sure why the guy would make a generalization of all amateurs based on one person's impact position, but that seems to be what's happening here.

I think it's hard to generalize amateur golfers anyway since they are of different skill levels, ages, etc.

Yes, I'm thinking that maybe instructor is honing in on more experienced amateurs, who get their weight forward too much.

Most amateurs I see are not open enough, yes, but I rarely see the left hip outside the left ankle. As in almost never.
