Day 163.  10 minutes of putting after work (real green, evening).  This was 6' putts with break and then a few 15' with a focus on making sure each had a chance to go in (and several did).

Day 21

Putting down a ruler. I know boring, right?
I also worked on club face positions at first parallel. Did this with Driver and 7 iron.

Looking forward to being able to swing "for real" again. Maybe next week?

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Day 164.  I knew I'd be inside a lot tonight, so I brought a rubber stretchy band to aid in some stretches.  Did at least five minutes' worth of ones I'm told are golf focused.

Dat 473

Only 6i work today. Taking suggestions on how to hit much straighter and somewhat faster mid iron shots was primarily watching address position, turn turn turn, simply swinging freely.

Speed showed improvement and I was able to keep most of the shots well with a 8' width os my imaginary fairway. Even as I went for greater distance.

Was it dumb luck?

Looking forward to working with a top tracer tomorrow to check results.

Day 22

Got to take full swings today. First time since injuring my tailbone. It felt pretty good. it will be interesting to see how I feel in the morning.

Funny, putting a ball on a tee, or plucking it out of the hole still hurts a lot.

Day 23

YAY!!!  I hit full shots at the range. My injury is healing faster than expected.

My swing is a mess but at least I'm not in pain.... Most of the time

I hit 40 balls with the driver. I worked on a drill I haven't done in ages. Basically with about a 60% swing you try to hit 5 off the toe. Then hit 5 off the heel. Then try to middle 5 in a row. Then do it all again with about a 75% swing. Then do it again with a full swing. (Of course the last set was 3 off the toe, 3 off the heel, and 3 off the middle. Otherwise you run out of balls in a 40 ball mini-bucket.)

Time to start this back up, since the season is almost over.

Day 1: Spent about 30 minutes hitting into my net. Working on my swing feels - a little weight shift off the ball and soft wrists in transition. Seems to be pretty good overall.

This is about when I, most years lately, disappear from golf due to being busy at work.  So I'm happy I'm still getting something in.

Day 166.  I spent 10 minutes putting, real green, under the lights, after work.  6' and 12' putts.

I practiced uneven lies this morning. Pretty severe up/down hill, and high/low side hill lies.

Had enough room in the practice area to use my 110 yard club on down. . .

Knowing what the ball will do from these 4 different lies will save strokes.

After that, i found some decent rough to hit a few balls out of for the same reason.

Day 475

Despite frustration with my Bucky Badgers, I got in a fairly good workout in terms of rotation and lag.

All in all, I spent 30-40 minutes just going through the motions followed by maybe hitting 20 shots.

Faults with the rotation were obvious: I found myself inn weird positions at impact, often with the full torso leaning too far back away from the strike point.  And/or being so stiff as to end up topping or chunking.

So, before heading out to the range, I took out the popular camera and videoed my process. I was all over the place.

I knew what I should look like to rotate for the best results. It took many repetitions, slowly, of a good process. I finally felt, while checking with the video, that I had made a good number of good actins in a row.

I took them withy 7i. No chunks, no topping, just dod sounding and good looking shots.  Tomorrow Iwill do the same.

It seems as if the lack of videoing any practice ended up with poor habits of the past returning.

Day 24

I got the overspend training super speed golf sticks out for the first time since hurting my tailbone.

It went well. I purposefully didn't measure my swing speed. I just checked to see if I could do the movements without pain. I have to say, it went okay.

Day 25

Footwork day!

I spent several minutes, several times today working on my footwork. Over the years I've notice my footwork tends to be an area where I can lose it pretty quickly. It's super easy to pick it up on video. When it gets bad, it tends to get really bad, really fast.

Day 476

Took time to work on the 3w off of the turf.

Nice solid distances (180 yards on average), good dispersion, and loft.  As I had not done this as a single focus in a long, long, time, I was happy, but it will not be untilI have done this again that I will know if it were not just dumb luck!

Day 168.  How did I just notice a mirror in my hotel room?  Mirror work for weight transfer.  Haven't hit an actual ball in about a week, but at least I can do this in the interim.

Day 26

I hit balls at the range! YAY!

I worked on another drill I hadn't done in a long time. Basically, you try to hit each of 9 different shots with a driver and similarly with a 7 iron. So you try to hit low draw, medium draw, high draw, Then a low straight shot (stinger), normal shot, then high straight shot. Then hit a low fade, medium fade and then high fade.

I have to say, I used to be able to do it pretty decently, but today it was uglier than a mud fence. My high fade was a giant banana slice, all of my draws were total snap hooks. Even my "straight" shots were all over the place. It was pretty darn ugly.

It was nice to be at the range again. But I got nothing going well with my full swing right now. Looking forward to getting with my coach again here soon.

    • The term I hear most often is "double teeing" which means the course/club has starting times from both the #1 and #10 tee.  I have encountered this many times and we know if we are the first group off #10, we may well get to #1 and have to wait because there are groups still with tee times yet to tee of #1.  In most instances, where the course/club has a starter, he normally explains this situation.  In this case, the pro advised what you would could/would encounter making the turn to #1.  And, that is exactly what happened.  Probably would have been wise to talk to the pro after playing back 9 and ask when you could go off #1 since apparently that club does not double tee.   Regardless, the outburst towards the other group was uncalled for.  And, I don't blame the member for being upset.  As a member of a private club, you are responsible for the actions of your guest.  I have played many times as a guest in the UK and I am pretty damn sure my host was responsible for my actions while at the club.  I know at the clubs I have belonged to here in the US, that is the way it is.  As a matter of fact, the member may find himself being brought before management and facing possible suspension.  So, I don't blame him for being upset.  However, as the host, he really should have stepped up and put a stop to the OP's actions.  OP makes this statement "I now understand that standards are different on the "private course." But I'll take those lessons to the muni, too."  No, the standards are not different.  You, sir, seem to be just a bit hard headed and belligerent, even if you are college professor...which possibly explains a lot.   JMHO
    • Day 32: worked for about 10 minutes on my drill. Filmed it as well for a check in. I think it’s slightly better but still seeing some issues.
    • Day 44 (26 Dec 25)  -  played in the Friday men’s shootout with a twist - used the Toney Penna persimmons and MacGregor blades - had a blast playing these clubs.  They really help in zoning in on making solid ball contact.  Scoring was solid - had several looks at birdie and had a few par saves.  Overall a day of focused course management.
    • Day 2: 2025.12.27 Eighteen holes at Kauri Cliffs. Focusing on trying to keep flex in right leg during backswing.
    • Day 136 12-26 Had a different practice planned today but life happened. Worked on "wide to wide" and still working on remaining flowy. Starting the club head in front of the ball as a drill, is helping with the flow of the swing.
