Day 96, February 4, 2023

Planned on like an hour downtown, but it was literally (well, almost) freezing, so… Just did about seven minutes at home.

Day 66: 2/5/2023

I got to the indoor range early again today. Spent a lot of time working on my priority pieces both in slow motion and full speed going for one "feel" at a time. Then I moved on to hitting pitch shots to 20 - 25 yard targets. I tried to be really hard on myself from that range. Next, as usual I got out the putting mirror just for a half dozen balls to check my alignment. Then did the random ball speed control drill for quite a while today. I tried something new with the drill. This time I made my target area only 2 feet wide. So, I hit 12 to 16 footers into a box 4 feet long but only 2 feet wide. It added a new level of challenge. Lastly I finished up with some chipping practice for about 20 minutes and then headed home.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Day 36: did a super speed session and some mirror work.

Day 46 - More chipping in the yard today, this time with 54* wedge. After the first 5 or so (warm-up) I went through my pre-shot routine, including picking a landing spot, for each one and tried to visualize the shot beforehand. The motion was for a chip and run shot.

Day 37: Putted on my mat while listening to a presentation. Working on set up - upright and elbows bent - and stroke - more back and through. Feels pretty good at the moment.

Day 98, February 6, 2023

Twenty or so minutes before a lesson (and after teaching Carey) for a bit.

Wasn't great. But the backswings are good. Still need to focus on staying a teensy bit wider.

Day 67: 2/6/2023

Pretty good day of practice today. Spent time this morning working on my priority pieces in the garage net. This afternoon I went to the outdoor range to check ball flight. I also had a chance to hit wedges to targets between 30 and 100 yards.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Day 99, February 7, 2023

Went downtown from 7 until nearly 9. Almost all backswing stuff, with the last nine swings being about three to four seconds long and exaggerating the whole swing.

Was a good day.

Day 1 (7 Feb 23) -  Starting over as I had about a 2 week break (the missus and I were on a family cruise to the east Caribbean, so I opted to go off grid for a few days and reset).   Today, first full day back home, started with slow half swings with the 7i in the backyard (clear skies, mid-50's for temp).   Then moved to hitting some of the hard foam balls to about 60yds, again keeping the swing to about half swings focused on setup, grip, and weight shift.  All told, worked on these drills for about an hour.

Ping G400 3h and 4h R flex

Day 47 - Putting practice today, using the mirror to make sure that my eyes and shoulders are consistently aligned. It turns out that they were not so more work needed.

Day 47. Some indoor work. Still having trouble with my left wrist but I’m not sure what is causing it. It doesn’t hurt the day after hitting or a Fit for Golf session.

    • Just like the 2022, 2021, 2020, 2023, and 2024 topics, we're doing it again in 2025! Once again, I'd like to birdie every hole at Whispering Woods in 2025 (and maybe every numbered hole on other courses). I'd like you to join me on this quest. I'll have a better chance this year if I don't completely screw up my left thumb in August, too… 😉 This year's spreadsheet is below: 2025 TST Birdie Challenge - Google Sheets Please click through, add your name, home course, and location, and when you make a score on the holes as you play them, update your line in the spreadsheet with your ringer score, basically. The idea is to score a birdie or better on each hole on the course this year. If you're above a certain handicap and would like to make it a par challenge, go for it! Just add that note to the Notes column. Please leave the formatting as is. And note that you only write down one score - if you birdie a hole three times, you aren't writing down -3. It's just your best individual score for each hole. We can all cheer each other on and see where this takes us! If you truly play a TON of different courses, then follow these two guidelines: If you just play a lot of golf, but still get 20 or 25 (or more) rounds in on one course, consider making that your home course and just doing the birdie challenge there. If you truly play only 20-40 rounds per year, and never more than a handful at the same course, consider trying to birdie holes numbered 1 to 18 across all of your courses. Or even doing it twice. Yeah, some hole #17s will be easier birdies than others, but that's why you might do it twice.
    • He was lied to on several fronts. But, was also dumb enough to believe them all.
    • 'Nothing changes; there is only money': Cut from LIV, former winner shares frustration Eugenio Chacarra, 24, intends to chase a PGA Tour card once his suspension ends in September. I wonder how many LIV players are feeling the same... Based on some of the news stories, I am guessing John Rahm may be one of those who regrets forgoing competition in lieu of $$$.  But others like Phil, probably likes the $$$ since he has accomplished much in the PGA and is in waning years.
