Day 66 (26 Aug 23) - Sat morning chip and pitch session w/PW and 54 in the backyard, before a long day of moving stuff for the missus.  Focus as always on setup (grip, stance, etc), today was more dialed on sensing the weight in the lead foot and creating a smooth flow through the ball.  Has been a long journey but to be able to put the majority of my weight on that left foot is light years from where it was when I started this journey.

Day 299, August 26, 2023

Hit some shots downtown because I thought I had a lesson at 8 but the first today was at 9. 😄

Day 69: Aug 27

Continued to work on clubpath & forward lean with lots of 1/2 and 3/4 7-iron shots into a net. Felt like I was rotating the club through impact when generating speed (which felt like a new sensation, but not completely unfamiliar either). Something to explore with coach next time I see him.

Broke up the session with some short game practice; both chip shots and short pitch shots. Lots of experimenting with different ball positions.

Day 4:

Played 18 this morning, 10 strokes better than last Sunday. Was bad off the tee all round, but made up for that with decent approach play and sharp short game.

Day 300, August 27, 2023

Was downtown for three hours after a birthday lunch. Didn't practice that whole time, but practiced for a little over half of it. Starting to get comfortable (just what @saevel25 wants to hear… starting, ha ha). Anyway, starting to add a little more of the "flow" back in, as that can make up for a lot of other things being a little funny.

Haven't hit a driver in awhile… so that'll be interesting. 😉

Day 118 -  Back at the range today. Filmed for Evolvr and figured out my weird pull draw/low hook shot that showed up at Harbour Town. I was simply standing too close to the ball with my woods. Gave myself a bit more room and instantly the ball flight was back to normal, pretty neutral flight and normal height.

Day 68 (28 Aug 23) - Had a decent rain shower come thru, able to get outside after the rain to work on pitches in wet grass.  Used the 54, weight on lead foot and focused on keeping the swing smooth, not flippy.

Day 301, August 28, 2023

Played 72 holes with @saevel25. What? It was only 36? Well… it felt like 72. 😉

Day 5:

Noticed my backswing was a lot more arm/hand movement instead of a good shoulder turn, so did some work on that to start. Then continued my drop/turn feel downswing work, however the feel has morphed into a drop hands / slide hips . Even though "slide" implies a straight motion, a "slide" feel actually syncs my rotation better than a "turn" feel.

Decided to sign up for Fit-for-golf and give it a try. Since I stopped bicycle commuting I don't get enough exercise for how much I like to eat (even though I walk 4-5 miles daily). I like the idea of having something more specific for golf motion, but that will have broader benefits as well. I'll start that tomorrow.

    • Just like the 2022, 2021, 2020, 2023, and 2024 topics, we're doing it again in 2025! Once again, I'd like to birdie every hole at Whispering Woods in 2025 (and maybe every numbered hole on other courses). I'd like you to join me on this quest. I'll have a better chance this year if I don't completely screw up my left thumb in August, too… 😉 This year's spreadsheet is below: 2025 TST Birdie Challenge - Google Sheets Please click through, add your name, home course, and location, and when you make a score on the holes as you play them, update your line in the spreadsheet with your ringer score, basically. The idea is to score a birdie or better on each hole on the course this year. If you're above a certain handicap and would like to make it a par challenge, go for it! Just add that note to the Notes column. Please leave the formatting as is. And note that you only write down one score - if you birdie a hole three times, you aren't writing down -3. It's just your best individual score for each hole. We can all cheer each other on and see where this takes us! If you truly play a TON of different courses, then follow these two guidelines: If you just play a lot of golf, but still get 20 or 25 (or more) rounds in on one course, consider making that your home course and just doing the birdie challenge there. If you truly play only 20-40 rounds per year, and never more than a handful at the same course, consider trying to birdie holes numbered 1 to 18 across all of your courses. Or even doing it twice. Yeah, some hole #17s will be easier birdies than others, but that's why you might do it twice.
    • He was lied to on several fronts. But, was also dumb enough to believe them all.
    • 'Nothing changes; there is only money': Cut from LIV, former winner shares frustration Eugenio Chacarra, 24, intends to chase a PGA Tour card once his suspension ends in September. I wonder how many LIV players are feeling the same... Based on some of the news stories, I am guessing John Rahm may be one of those who regrets forgoing competition in lieu of $$$.  But others like Phil, probably likes the $$$ since he has accomplished much in the PGA and is in waning years.
