Day 4 - Ben Hogan's Five Lessons. The "Modern" Fundamentals - 1954 🙂

Reading is part of golf practice, so I am reading this book again to refresh my fundamental skills. Today I read the chapter about grip.

DAY 458  Yeah, I got outside today!!!   Spent 90 minutes on the range putting into practice what I have been practice in my home office for the last week, and hit the ball really well.   Focused on my backswing (turning versus swaying), and the internal rotation of my right shoulder at the beginning of my downswing....     I think it will be back to home office practice swings tomorrow as I am attending a full day workshop on the Rules of Golf put on by the Florida State Golf Association.....  and then spend time practicing the drop from knee height! LOL!!!

Worked indoors more due to schedule than cool temps.

Mirror work, for the most part making sure of shoulder positions and over all body action on the basic swing.  About 25 reps making sure I was able to use weight properly to project a good loading up for the release.  Felt good, though a few got sloppy due to my inattention.

Day 130: Got really specific today. Just working on my grip for 5 minutes. Nothing else. Need to make sure I'm getting my right hand in the position I need to. I think I'm making progress, because it's feeling less weird. On the other hand, that scares me a little because I don't know that I'm doing it correctly going forward, haha.

Day 51, 20 Feb

Extensive practise this evening, using SkyTrak, in the trsusting mentality, preparing for a game in two days.

Sessions included: 7i, wedge matrix, hybrid, then driver.

DAY 459   Started the day by attending an 8 hour 2019 Rules of Golf workshop put on by the Florida State Golf Association.   And just a few minutes ago, I finished my daily 5 minutes of practice... I used my shortened club to work on impact position and internal rotation of my right shoulder during the start of the downswing.    Hope to have a LONG afternoon session tomorrow, and then back to 4-6 hour practice days on Friday.

Day 223

Had a few minutes to swing my 7i.  Was getting consistent loft and distance (well, except for a few shots which were a danger to worms and gophers everywhere).

Was a little more successful in eliminating the overly wide draw.  Either that or my slight adjustment in aim was well done.

I am at the point now in my game, where I still will work with strong focus, on improving my game.  However, during my rounds I will just have a great time playing the game where I am now.

Day 382 - February 20, 2019 - Made a bunch of swings with my ~1994 Titleist PT driver. The ball was teed up pretty high, which made this tough… but it was pretty successful.

Day 5 - Putting and slow motion swings at home.

I backed up all our digital pictures (ca. 250 Gb) to two hard drives, so I moved the putting mat near my computer and practiced during the transfer.

I focused on short puts from various angles, grip and relaxing shoulders more.

Day 416.

Just a few minutes of indoor work with the Heavy Putter. Big winter storm hit the area last night. Not going to venture out in it till later. I don't do icy roads.

Same as before. Rolling the ball over a dime several inches in front of the ball. This to simulate rolling a straight putt.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
