Day 493, March 7, 2024

30 minutes of work. Slight tweak to add a bit of a roll to get the familiar "release" stuff back. Otherwise I was finishing with a hold-off left, I think. Playing again tomorrow.

Day 12: 3/7/2024

Good practice session today. I did my overspeed training first. Then spent some time on a backswing piece I'm trying to incorporate. Spent some valuable time on my hands and hand path. (tends to be a re-occurring problem for me.) Finished up with a target session trying to focus on where not how.

I felt like a lot of things kind of came together today. We'll see if it "sticks" or not.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Day 71: 3/7/24

Putting practice through gates while watching Full Swing season 2. My favorite line? Claude Harmon, 3rd, stating he was “bringing receipts”, after the PGA. Golf instructors never sound as tough as they think they do…

Day 65 - Stack session. Also did some grip work. I do a decent job of initially gripping the club in my fingers, but it slides a bit too much into my palm. Need to figure that out.

Day 14: 3/8/2024;

No actual range time today. I did my backswing work in front of the basement mirror. I also tried to take that mirror work and translate it into feels on the hitting mat in the garage net. On lunch I got in my overspeed training. Then I finished the day off with trying to hit the ball through a 50mm gate and then into the perfect putt 8 feet away.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Day 494, March 8, 2024

Practiced (club only) on GEARS for a bit after a lesson, then played 18 holes with @DrizZzY and @RJohn23 at Whispering Woods.

Going back to re-emphasize some of the backswing stuff a bit.

Day 72: 3/8/24

Stack Full Speed Spectrum Training session 5/24.

Hit my max Stack speed for 195 grams from an earlier program back in the summer. Eager to see how this translates to the course. No idea when I will play next due to family needs, but putting in the work to be ready!

    • Day 37: did my drill swings in the garage with foam balls for about 15 minutes. Working on getting my backswing more turned and then going from there.
    • Thanks but honestly… I don't know any other way. I don't mind being wrong so long as I know where to go from there. I don't like being wrong — I'd love to get things right (which is different than "being right"). I recommend grabbing a furniture slider or a paper plate or something, and doing something like this: First, make a swing where you let your trail foot swing out as you turn, then twist that foot back in. From DL and FO, it'll look like this: Then, during a regular backswing, try to twist your foot in slightly (demonstrated in the left image): You'll notice a crease along the trail side of your hip, your pelvis will "fold" into that thigh (internal rotation of the hip joint), and your "bits" will be squished a little between your pelvis and your thigh. Ben Hogan said once: "At the top of the back swing the groin muscle on the inside of your rt [sic] leg near your right nut will tighten," Hogan wrote. "This subtle feeling of tightness there tells you that you have made the correct move back from the ball." I don't know about that, but you will probably feel something down around that area.
    • Yep. I think it will start to feel even more athletic when we start on the downswing stuff later.  I know, it's just I want to be younger so I have more time to enjoy the changes. 🙂
    • I need to drop a couple of stone. 🙂 😛    Yep. Yeah, but in the end, it feels more athletic, like you're actually using your legs, yeah? As you know… we use the best available info we have. Like others, I was fooled a little by 2D images for awhile (moving or still). Unlike others, I've learned and grown and moved on since then, while they're still looking at their images (often from lousy camera angles).
