New AR app from PGA Tour

So it's kind of a 3D TopTracer on your device. Since this is posted in the Apple Club, obviously, iOS only, no Android, for now.

I tried it.

Meh. The models are okay. The problem I have with it, I think, is that the model is so big. It's a 150- to 550-yard hole… represented on your desktop, countertop, or floor. It scales badly. It's tiny. Plus, it's then shrunk down to fit on your phone screen.

So the scale is tough.

It'd be awesome if I could put myself somewhere ON the hole and move my camera around to see what it would look like if I was staring down the same shot. Now THAT would be cool!

I haven't tried it yet, but from what I've read it seems to me like it's a solid step 1 of something bigger. I'm sure they'll iterate it, improve what they have, add holes, etc.

How is it supposed to work? When I start it, it just goes to a screen saying “detecting surface.” 

(iPhone 6s, running iOS 11.2.6.  Does it only work on newer phones?)

I don't know if your phone is new enough, but… yeah, point it at a surface, like a desk or table or something.

Ah. I missed that.  Oh well, if that’s the worst part of my week, then things are pretty good.
