Thank you for viewing my swing thread.  This is my swing at home on the gc2 (I have a pc setup with the software in the garage too), hitting a 6i.  This is a pretty typical swing for me- a decent one.  This swing does result in some push draws, pushes, and hooks (if I get my left shoulder too steep on backswing).  You may notice a funky little left foot lift on the backswing.  This makes me feel more athletic and that I'm shifting my weight.

Here are my current swing thoughts:

backswing: left foot up + left shoulder turn behind the ball.  (arms FEEL vertical like Bubba)

downswing: everything but driver- Create a loud SWOOSH down and through the ball.  For driver- create a loud SWOOSH at the ball.

At the end of the video, you'll catch a quick glance at my data capture, but here it is so you don't miss it.

6i DTL

Ball speed 121

Launch angle 21.3

Push/pull (start line or azimuth) 10.4 right

Draw spin 1138

Backspin 5100

Carry 177

I've been Playing Golf for: 10 years
My current handicap index or average score is: 10.1 before I got my gc2 Christmas of 2016.  Worked on my swing change for 2017 and learning the ball flight laws and using the gc2. I haven't played a full 18 yet in 2018.  Trending downward though :)
My typical ball flight is: Push draw
The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: HOOK.  I can manage a push or push draw as that will fall into my shot cone.  But when I get my left shoulder too steep on the backswing, the launch angle is too low and starts about on line but has 1500-2300 rpm of draw spin- resulting in a shot that ends up 30-40 yards left of target.  Great ball speed for my swing speed, but it's a trap draw that I cannot play once I hit fairway woods and driver.

I will add more videos to this thread when I can.  I appreciate your input, thanks and hit them great!

Lot of arm whip through impact. Nice.

I usually see tad more natural arm hang (closer to chest) at set up and more hand depth at take away from most good low cap swings.

I am not an instructor so not advising anything- just an observation.

One of the most unusual takeaways and backswings I've ever seen. Seems like a lot of unnecessary movement on the way back and up around the top of the backswing.

Have you thought about getting the HMT to go along with the GC2 so you can see additional info around your path and clubface? If it starts straight towards your target and draws/hooks 30-40 yds left, I would guess your path probably isnt that far off of 0 and the face is really closed to that path.

Thanks for viewing and responding man!  I really appreciate it, bro!

Haha, you're 100% right.  My swing is definitely MY swing.  It looks very weird to me.  I took my first ever lesson a while back and my coach was like, "you're probably one of the most coordinated people I know, because if you weren't you'd quit golf with a swing like that."  LOL, thanks... I guess. :)

Based upon ball flight laws, when I'm swinging well my path is to the right probably 9* or more and my face is open to square because the ball starts right of target and draws back.  On the mega hooks, the start line is close to 0- about 1 or 2* right, but the draw spin is big- so that makes me think my path stays out to the right and that big difference between face and path leads to the mega hook.

I would love to get an HMT.  I'm not in a position to get one right now though.  I'm a teacher, but I've applied to law school and a spot in administration in my school system.  So if I get into law school I won't be getting one for a while.  But if I get into admin, I may purchase one.  My wife is wrapping up grad school herself and with 2 small kids, I can't really get one.  I actually got the gc2 out of sheer luck when Golfsmith went bankrupt- got it at liquidation.  But that's another story.

Have you ever tried standing closer to the ball?  You are much farther away than most.  For me, standing closer promotes more fade and standing farther promotes more draw, so there is a chance that will help.

Thanks for viewing and taking the time to respond!

I have tried it, but I don't like the crowding feeling it brings.  Feels like I can't use my leverage.  Also with my more in to out path, shanks city and I'm stuck behind myself/can't sling the club around.

    • Hello Golfing Buddies, It has been awhile since I posted but I am the Retired Old Man that asked for advice because I suffered two "T.I.A.'s about switching from playing right handed to playing left handed.  I purchased a Callaway Edge Left handed golf clubs. I changed the grips to oversize grips.  Well, two weeks ago and still at 79 years old, I shot a 44 and 47 on a small course in my hometown.  I am currently changing my shafts from regular flex to Senior flex.  So, you can see' it can be done! So, you other old timers; get with the program! Blessings to all of you. Retired Old Man (Terry Warner)

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
