I am thinking about getting a golf related tattoo and I am just curious if anyone else has one or many?

I know someone that had a golf ball tat. Somethings are better left untatooed and that particular tattoo was one of them. I can't really think of a cool golf tattoo except for the Seminole that Seminole Golf Club (North Palm Beach) has for their logo and that would be only if you like Native American stuff. I am curious to see what is out there.

I am saving a spot on my right shoulder for my first hole-in-one. It won't be too gaudy, probably something like the number 1 with a ball in the middle of it. It will have the date, course name, hole number, distance and club used. All of my tattoos are able to be covered by a polo. It's been about 4 years since my last one. I already have my next one designed, that is unless the hole-in-one happens before that.

I currently have two tatoos... one on each of my outer upper arms... both coverable by a tee-shirt or polo. I plan on getting at least two more... one on each shoulder. I want a golf one, but like you guys I can't think of anything cool. I have thought of the hole-in-one thing, but I'm also impacient and will probably get the next tat in the next couple years. Right now I have one that pertains to my religion and another that relates to my career... I don't want something that I will hate in 5-10 years.

DON'T DO IT!

Tattoos are the worst invention ever. Unless you are a tribal warrior or in the military and the tattoo has meaning beyond, "hey, I think I should get a tattoo." Think about when you are wrinkled and gray, a grandfather/mother. THINK! I have five and I can't stand any of them. Having them laser removed. WHICH F'IN HURTS!

The two I have DO have meaning and I'm neither of those things... when I'm old and wrinkled I won't mind having them on my arms... I am 28, got my first at 23, and have NO regrets, and won't when I'm 68. My grandfather and father both had two... and niether regretted theirs.

That being said... you certainly should not get one on a whim, and you should think about how it will effect your career, etc. and pick an appropriate location. Many people really like having tatoos and to make a blanket statement of "DON'T GET ONE" is kind of inappropriate. I think better advice would be wait a year and if you still think it's a good idea then get it... or think hard about it and the consequnces, etc.

Everytime I get the urge, I wait a month...the urge fades away. Maybe it's just the golf OCD showing up in a different. way.

How about a topless devil biker chick holding a putter...OK, holding a Scotty Cameron putter...hmmm. I think that one is popular at Winged Foot.

I am losing it...

I have three and they all have certain meaning to me. I tell people all the time to only get one if you are really sure. Think ahead 5, 10 , 20 years. Will it still mean the same to you then. My first one is a basketball with a Nike Swoosh through it. At the time basketball was a huge part of my life. Next I got a Chicago Bulls logo on my right arm. My oldest son is Jordan Michael so that probably explains that one. My third is a tribal sun between my shoulder blades. It has the Japanese symbol for family in the middle with the date I was married and the birth dates of my two sons.

The big thing with tattoos is they are individual expressions. I will never tell someone not to get one. At the same time I would not tell them they should. I simply say if you are going to get one, think about it long and hard. I will never get one that can be seen when I am wearing a short sleeve shirt. They have to have some meaning to me. My next one will be a band arround my left bicep. It will be a watch. The face will not have numbers or hands. It will say Now. The band of the watch will say "Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On." It comes from Jimmy Buffett's song by the same name. I read a great quote one time that said "The only difference between someone who has a tattoo and someone who does not is that someone who has one does not care if you have one or not."

I have been wanting to get one for a few years but, like most of you have said, could not sketch out anything that I would want to have on my body for the rest of my life. Golf is a big part of my life. It's a sport that I am extremely passionate about and hope to be playing until I pass away. I am not looking for anything gaudy or extreme. I am playing around with the idea of creating something along the lines of the LPGA symbol. I like that idea and I think something small on my shoulder will suffice.

Thanks for your input.

I have 8 total but they are all corporate tattoos, so they cover up nicely with a polo.

I have quite a few tattoos and one full 1/2 sleeve (shoulder to elbow and all the way around) that I'm presently working on; no golf tattoos though. I would definitely support those who reccomend you think a while on it. I do not regret anything I've had inked, but each tattoo was about a year long decision making process.

What I would reccomend also would be to go to a reputable artist even if it is a drive and pricey. Don't go to some hole-in-the-wall joint. You will get what you pay for. Then, once you have found an artist, give him or her your ideas and see if maybe they can offer you some insight and design ideas.

Tattoos begin to fade and the ink will slowly spread with time. You don't want your tattoo of a golf ball to look like a sphere of swiss cheese in 15 years. Also, white ink fades out the quickest because it is the lightest. In a year, I would be surprised if you could still see the white ink.

I hope this helps. Good luck with your decision.

    • Day 3 (3 May 25) - played 18 (went solo) this afternoon at one of sister courses to my regular course.  Went with the three tee box format (Golld-White-Red as this adds a mix to the “I always play this club as my approach on this hole” routine).  The front presented issues as  the greens are suffering from the heat and lack of rain.  Add in 15-20 mph gusty winds and it’s not a walk in the park. It really made the approach reads a little hard to figure out - of the 3 pars on the front, two were GIR, the other a nGIR.  The rest were coming up short and that meant a lot of two putt bogies and a big old dbl- managed a 43.  The back greens are not suffering as bad and were more receptive to rolls of the rock. Finished that side with a two over 37 (par 35) that included 6 GIR that resulted in 5 para and 1 birdie, the other 3 were two putt bogies.  Was a good test of course management and not being afraid to club up or down.
    • Day 287: range session today. Worked on my drill with the wrist turn, also trying to get my hips moving more. Looking a little better. Then went and worked on putts inside 10 feet for about 20 minutes.
    • Day 12: Kentucky Derby Day Hit the range for about 30 minutes before it started to rain pretty hard. Good session!
    • Day 215 - 2025-05-03 Hit some balls at Downback. 🙂 @NatalieB is a college graduate now.
    • Purchased a new set of Ping G410 irons with True Temper XP 95 (R300) steel shafts (4-PW) at a good price. Had moved to graphite shafts many years ago (spanning various irons sets from Titleist, TaylorMade and Mizuno) thinking they would be appreciably lighter to help my slower swing speed. My weekend golf partners told me to quickly re-shaft the Pings to graphite. I must admit: (1) these clubs feel as light as any graphite shafts (2) I am hitting these irons the purest I have ever experienced in an iron (3) they fly straight!  Just looking for reinforcement to stick with the steel shafts.
