The Supreme Court ruled Monday that states are free to legalize sports betting, a ruling that is sure to set off a scramble among the states to find a way into a billion-dollar business.

“The legalization of sports gambling requires an important policy choice, but the choice is not ours to make,” wrote Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr., in striking down a federal law that kept New Jersey and other states from changing their laws to allow such gambling.

It's going to be really interesting to see how fast states legalize, or don't legalize, gambling after this ruling.

You can "bet" that which ever states go with gambling, the Vegas casino owners will be their first. I suspect more states than not will go with some form of betting just for increased state revenue reasons. Most states could use the extra money.

Living near Vegas,  I place quite a few bets during the year. I have a futures bet right now on the Cubs meeting the Red Sox in the world series.

I cashed in a ticket on the Warriors winning  their conference due to a bizarre circumstance. It seems where I placed that futures bet, the owner of the casino also owns, or is part owner the the Rockets. His casino can't take wagers for, or against the Rockets. Warriors won by default. I'd like to say I planned this, but that's not the case. I read about it the local paper.

I wish this meant I would pay less in taxes but I'm sure it will not be enough to notice. I don't really enjoy betting but will take the added state revenue I suppose.

“Following the Supreme Court’s ruling today, the PGA Tour reiterates its support of the regulation of sports betting in a safe and responsible manner. We believe that regulation is the most effective way of ensuring integrity in competition, protecting consumers, engaging fans and generating revenue for government, operators and league,” the Tour said Monday in a statement.

I've seen a few too many gambling addicts ruin their lives to necessarily feel great about this. ... Of course, the fact that it was illegal in the first place didn't make any difference in their cases.

I'm curious if this will bring back online poker, seems like this could effect that ban but I haven't heard any reference to it.  I used to really enjoy playing Hold 'em on Full Tilt.  Anyone know?

    • I’d go with the Titleist if you liked the look of the blades but were suffering with distance. They should be a little more forgiving than a full blade and still retain some workability. Also remember to consider the shafts each have as this will be a big contributor to how they feel. Clemsonfan is right though… get fit or spend a bit of time on a launch monitor 🤙
    • Day 28: 2026.01.30 Managed to make time for a few swings out back today. Need a proper bit of range time this weekend.
    • Day 30, 1/30.  Six minutes this morning hitting a few more range balls, indoors, off a mat, into the net.  Did this before leaving the house.

    • Hi All my New Year’s resolution was to start playing golf again. I’ve caught the bug and am really enjoying hitting balls at a couple of my local ranges.looking forward to getting back out on courses in the spring. Based in the UK and 38 years old, I’ve been playing since I was a kid. Best handicap I’ve held is 2 in my mid 20s. Over the past 10 years I’ve played once or twice a year, sometimes with friends or for work. Could shoot 4-5 over, but just as easily shoot 15-20 over. I’ve moved to South Wales and am very lucky to be near some world class links courses, which gives me even more motivation to get playing again! I will start looking for a local coach in my area when I have more time to invest, but I recalled scouring this forum a few years ago and finding some good tips and advice so wanted to give it a try to see if there were any glaring issues I could fix in the meantime!  A few swings below… one from 1st week Jan and one from today. I have fixed my P1 takeaway to my liking and am now working on what I see as pretty severe early extension & hip thrust. Also terrible hip rotation. I’d like confirmation that this is indeed a problem and and suggestions on a few good drills. Thanks for reading 🙂 I've been Playing Golf for: 30+ years My current handicap index or average score is: 10ish over My typical ball flight is: mid The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: push right with irons, hooks and push with driver!  Videos:
