Couldnt agree more. I hear so much crap on the course like "I thought the English wore pink shoes like Poulter" etc.

you guys don't all wear pink pants, talk smack, and have spikey hair...

and I thought the American stereotypes were bad... guess everyone deals with them ehh (whoops, there's that Canadian part of me... "ehh"). Oh well... at least we're not French!

LEAD WITH YOUR ACTIONS NOT YOUR WORDS!!!!!!

Why say something when you can just go do it. It gets the same message across and then nobody thinks you are arrogant or cocky (although I rather like Ian Poulter for the most part)

He has not done it, he has no respect for the few who have actually competed with Tiger on a Sunday ( Ernie and Woody at Southern Hills, Phil even winning recently ). That shows how over the top he is about his own skills. He does not even realize where his league is.

For as long as I've been watching golf, I have only seen two players grouped with Woods, on a Sunday, and win: Vijay Singh and Phil Mickelson.

Mike Weir did a great job coming back in Match Play, last year. However, when it comes to Match play, you can shoot better and still not win. Please don't be offended but being two groups ahead is actually not competing with Tiger. I'm sure Luke Donald, Steven Ames and the like can attest to this.

Please, lord, let Poulter be paired with Tiger at the WGC Match Play, and in the opening round of the U.S. Open at Torry Pines (we know they won't be paried together in the final round), and in the singles matches of the Ryder Cup. Can you say, 9 and 8?

Good for Poulter. God forbid a professional athlete shows any confidence in himself. I know most people on this forum probably enjoy watching Tiger win by 20 every week.

When I.P. says, "Don't get me wrong, I really respect every professional golfer, but I know I haven't played to my full potential and when that happens, it will be just me and Tiger.", his mouth is writing checks his body will NEVER be able to cash [IMO].

Tiger (33) is about the same age as Poulter (32) but I.P. is so far behind Tiger right now in every respect, other than age, the differences should be measured in light-years.

Agreed 100%. Do I think Poulter went a little overboard? Sure. However, I have no problems with him having confidence and more importantly, realizing that he has not played to his potential. How many athletes cough cough John Daley cough cough become satisfied with just cashing checks?

As for Tiger winning by a landslide, that's boring to watch. I much rather watch replays of that PGA against Bob May or watch the Masters when he beat Chris Dimarco.

I think Poulter's crazy outfits must be effecting him mentally now. I wonder if they've got any quality mental health facilities in Dubai where he can be treated?

im surprised no one has mentioned this before... I.P. stated that "when he reaches his full potential, he will compete with Tiger" but the thing is if anyone "reached their full potential" than they too could compete with tiger... the bigggest difference is, if Tiger reaches his full potential (which i believe could very well be this year) we will see a year never to be surpassed.

I think Ian is talking about who dresses the best on tour, either that or PlayStation golf.

Full potential . . . isn't that what every golfer is secretly saying . . . "If I played to my full potential I'd be scratch!"

If Ian can just get Tiger to stop playing the NXT (Just say NO, NXT has got to go) than maybe he'd have a chance.

That's the salient point here. "Full potential" is what Poulter was talking about. And if Els or Mickelson were to reach their full potential, they would be up there with Tiger too.

In my opinion, that is what the Tiger Woods golf era is about. Tiger is someone that has been reaching more of his potential than the others for years. . . ESPECIALLY in his short game. When broken down, its not about the "x" factor or the "it" factor. Its not the red shirt, or the Nike money. Tiger is the guy who knows the mental and physical techniques that he needs to reach his full potential. He knows them, is focused and does the work. I don't think that he would say he is more talented in the individual skill sets that a golfer needs to excel (recall the talent comment that he made to John Daly.) He knows just what he needs and focuses on getting it himself. So I don't think I.P. said anything controversial or new. I wish he would reach his full potential, or more of it. It would be fun to see what crazy pants he would wear on Sunday.

Poulter does have the game to win a major, let alone challenge Tiger throughout a course of a whole year.

I saw the guy play in the Middle East. The guy cannot putt.

Im not so sure that I quite agree with Poulter. Just because he is playing to his full potential dosent mean that everyone else is not. Lets face it, Ian is young and hasent yet played to his full potential. If anyone steps up to Tiger, its going to be someone like Phil, or Vijay, someone who has a lot of experience and is still getting better. But then again, golf is a very unpredictable sport. We could see another "Zach Johnson".

Also, I think PGA tour players, in general, need to stop comparing themselves to Tiger, which him being one of the worlds best. If they see Tiger as someone better than they are, then he is going to continue being the worlds best.

Secondly, some people, such as Poulter, should keep oppinions such as these to themselves. This reminds me of when Garry Player openly proclaimed that he knew people on the PGA tour who were taking steriods. That one statement started a spark in the golf community that started a big controversy. You hear about things, such as this, about every week now, and its all because of sumeones mouth.

I got this from an interview transcript at the Dubai Desert Classic:

Q. Ian Poulter has been quoted as saying that he doesn't rate any other golfers in the world apart from you; do you think it's just about you and Ian in world golf or do you rate the other golfers you compete against?

TIGER WOODS: Well, I guess he's No. 2 in the world, so he's moved up in the rankings pretty quickly. (Laughter).

    • Not really, no. I don't know the history, what you've worked on, what you've tried and moved away from… etc.
    • Day 9: 2/16/25 Putting through 50 mm gates from 11”. Swing pressure shift drills.
    • Definitely not a favorite… For some reason my wife and I started watching Cobra Kai. I know the original was pretty cheesy, but the inability of these people to get over shit that happened like 30 years ago is astounding. And these kids would be arrested, but they don’t even seem to get suspended from school. Would Danny not notice that Johnny’s son looks like Johnny? Etc.? Why would a completely different dojo that has the same name be “banned”? Oy. Not sure we’ll make it to season 2.
    • Day 139 - 2025-02-16 Weather led to a rescheduled GEARS lesson, so I used the time to work on my swing for 60 minutes or so. All downswing stuff. Some swings at 93 MPH. Most around 75-80.
    • A question I have is…this swing (fade, pull cut) does not  feel as good and easily repeatable as the draw swing we were working on previously.  I’m kinda in a weird spot where I do not know which direction will be the best to pursue. I like seeing a penetrating 5 yard draw but also like the thought of the fade not getting away from me as much.    Any thoughts on that?
