Who Still Makes a 1 Iron?

Yea the club I went to yesterday let’s you demo everyday. I see they had couple hundred clubs sitting at the demo tee inside . I told the guy I was going to comeback when I didn’t have the baby to try some stuff out I had just bought 1 of 2 used 1 irons he had in the back just to try. I’ve used a hybrid iron 1 time and did t really like it at all not sure what degree it was.

Based upon your distance dispersion, I’d guess that you’re better off with the 2i Titlest I posted with the hollow face.

Iron lofts have gotten a lot stronger over time. I think the old 1-irons were maybe between 15 to 18 degrees. So the 17 to 18 degree examples that shindig mentioned might suffice. I would also think you would want a modern design that is more forgiving than an old blade.

That would make sense after watching the videos the one guy posted on here with that guy reveiwing an old 1 iron then the new 2 iron. He was hitting a lot farther with the 2 iron then the 1 iron.

Yea I did see that on eBay I just won’t spend that much money if I can’t put my hands on it. I don’t think they make that club anymore

@Bungiex88, why don't you research and look for a Mizuno driving iron? Best, -Marv

Fact is that by stronger lofting their clubs, manufacturers have turned 2 irons, even three irons into the one iron you may be referring to. And you can order a standard 3 iron and have them customized with a couple degrees stronger loft to get as close to 17 degrees as they can. Then, even though the head has a two or three marked on it, its a one.

I’ll have to see if the shop I go to carries that Titleist tmb 2 iron and that Mizuno mp18. I like the price of the Mizuno but seems like the Titleist is of a little better quality

PXG makes a driving 1i - PXG 0311 DI.  Have a good friend of mine who games one and hits it exceptionally well.

lol anything from PXG is, though they do make pretty good equipment.  I don't hit his any better than my Callaway UT X 18 though.

None of the major OEMs make an actual 1-iron anymore, and some don't even offer 2-irons.  If you don't want a hybrid or a hollow-body iron, you'll probably need to find a used 1-iron.

Have you looked for a Tommy Armour 845 "Heater" that have 14* degree loft?  I have a head (no shaft) that has a .355 tip -- maybe that will work for you. I don't have the swing speed to elevate that baby higher than 10' off the ground

No I’m not against hollow iron that’s all they make now. And I just bought a used 1 iron at the shop but haven’t got to use it on course yet
