That is an absolute classic comment - good job Tiger! Excellent comeback today, you proved my predictions right when I said he WILL win the tournament! What an amazing back nine, 31, WOW this guy is something special. Credit to Martin Kaymer who never gave up, finished eagle, birdie, birdie to jump into second spot and also to Ernie who needed eagle on 18 to win outright and went for it by going for the green.

Tiger - congratulations, yet another win for you!!!

i'll bet anyone a dozen eggs ian wins u.s. open at torre pines?

They will beat their swords into golf clubs and their spears into putters. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. Old Tom Morris 2:4

Nice! Seems the press is always much more concerned rivalry then potential rivals... Makes me respect Tiger even more.

great call.

i saw him play his whole round last night, amazing. #2 is so far behind. His concentration is amazing. Whilst walking to the ball, he is smiling at tell jokes, but when he approaches his ball, he is switched on.

I heard that on the Golf Channel too, but didn't they say that the world ranked number two golfer is Els? I thought it was Phil, or is he just number two for the PGA American rankings?

What I like about Tiger is he let his performance do the talking, not his mouth. It's supposed to be that way - you give result THEN you talk. Never talk first.

Tiger playing outside the US PGA tour gave credentials to the Euro PGA of which he was honored to Play in . By wisely stating that he thought Poulter was #2 , He had the European crowd nod and thus made him number 1 in their Ranks .

Huh?

They're the World Golf Rankings. It doesn't matter where you play or where you normally play - the rankings are all the same. http://www.officialworldgolfranking....me/default.sps BTW, Tiger's lead is STILL larger than the total number of points Phil (#2) even has.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

Points separting 40 and 50: 0.17
Points separting 30 and 40: 0.34
Points separting 20 and 30: 0.66
Points separting 10 and 20: 1.61
Points separting 2 and 10: 4.11
Points separting 1 and 2: 11.25

Based on just a snapshot of this, the world's top 10 (maybe even top 12-15), are arguably in a different league than even the very next 30 guys, let alone the next 100-200 guys. And, with that, Tiger is in a different league - maybe even two or three leagues ahead - of the #2 guy!

Said another way, the gap by which the TOP 10 in the world have distanced themselves from the best golfers in the world, is DWARFED by the distance from which Tiger has separated himself from that top 10. In a game that is supposed to be such a matter of inches, good/bad breaks, lip-outs, the occasional bad lie, etc.., this guy is simply on a different plane of existence right now.

Nothing in the swing is done at the expense of balance.

The fact that he knows how to work the mic only adds to his greatness. Over the years, many of the greats in sports were terrible interviews. Tiger is just the opposite. He used the perfect opening to make a small jab but did it with class. It was the same way when he commented about liking the "New Tiger too" or when he said "I have won 3 times this year and Rorry has won 3 times ever." He doesn't get into pissing matches with guys. He just tosses little barbs that pretty much end the discussion.

I just hope that someone doesn't make anything more out of it than a good one liner. I can see some moron saying that Tiger doesn't respect Phil or that he challenged Poulter.

Technically this is true:

It really is something everyone knows now. Some people acknowledge it and enjoy his genius and ability. Some dread it and want this domination to end. But the moot point is that if he has a good Thursday or Friday, everyone else is really playing for second place.

    • Wordle 1,080 4/6* 🟨⬜⬜⬜⬜ ⬜🟨🟩⬜⬜ 🟩⬜🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩   nice eagle @Clemsonfan
    • @Hardspoon and I will have to discuss it over for the next one. 😛    Just to give a short review of the courses.  NorthStar is a pretty good course. The condition is good. There was a couple of meh holes (#16 and #18 specifically). Nothing really stood out as amazing. Yea, probably like a 6/10.  Eaglesticks, I think from tee to green is really interesting. Some of the greens, more so pin positions were a bit crazy. Like, if you slightly missed you would have a putt that could not stop with in 15-Ft of the hole. Maybe a 5.5/10 something around there.  The Virtues, still good as ever. In really good condition. Being it is in a similar part of the state as Eaglesticks, it shares the same hilly terrain. Eaglesticks is more compact, so it might have more extreme slopes. While the Virtues is on a larger property and was more selective in where the holes were built. The green complexes at The Virtues seemed fairer than Eaglesticks. Still, I think a very good public course that can challenge you to hit a good tee shot. The approach shots are interesting. I still think I would recommend people make the trip to play if they haven't done so. Probably a 7/10.
    • Shot 77 at Eagle Sticks (Middle/ Blue) and 87 at Virtues (Middle/White). Not as sharp at Virtues and for me it was a much tougher course. Both courses were fun, in good shape and interesting. Virtues was clearly a notch or two higher in overall quality (former Longaberger Golf Club).
    • Well said @billchao. I echo those sentiments. Arcadia Bluffs in 2025?? 😉
