TST East Coast Get-Together (w/AimPoint), May 5-7 2017
davechen replied to GolfLug's topic in Member Outings & Meetups
It was good being cart-mates with you @JGus and meeting everyone else on Saturday. And especially thanks to @DaveP043 for being a terrific host at Stoneleigh. I played pretty poorly too. My front 9 on Saturday was ok, but then the wheels fell off. But, hey, a bad day of golf is still a pretty good day. -
Best of luck to you! There's doing a US Open qualifyer tomorrow near us, and I'm going to take my son to check it out.

It's official. I am IN! I don't think I can stay for the Aimpoint or the afterparty, though. -
Hey mozes21. I live in Bethesda, MD, just outside DC. I think that most of the public courses in my area have golf leagues. I mostly play the Montgomery county public courses. You could give them a call. I think East Potomac in DC runs one too. In fact there's a league page on their web page (golfdc.com). I play in the NIH golf league. We play 9 hole on Tuesdays and Thursdays after work. Unfortunately our season just started and the league is full, I think. You could also check out the DC Golf Tour: http://www.dcgolftour.com A friend of mine runs it. I played one of their events. A lot of very good golfers, so I was kind of out of my league. I ended up dead freaking last, so I'm kind of reluctant to play another one.

I'm a probably yes for golf on Saturday. I'm doubtful for other activities, although an Aimpoint clinic would be cool. -
I put in my "home" course (Falls Road GC, Potomac, MD), although I usually rotate among the area munis.

Thank you ?

I walk like 90% of the time, unless the course is unwalkable or my group is all riding. Mainly for the exercise, but also to save money and I enjoy it more. I used to always carry my bag, but I got a Clicgear two years ago. If I just play 9, I'll just carry, since the Clicgear is a bit awkward to set up. But if I'm playing a full 18, I'll usually bring it out. Some times I'll play executive courses or short 9 hole courses with my family. And the thing that always gets me is seeing able bodied people ride carts. Ya can't walk a short, 9 hole course? Jeez.

Looks interesting, although the story seems a bit cliched. Directed by Jason Connery, Sean's son, for whatever that's worth. I don't have high expectations when it comes to golf movies. But it's sure to be on the Golf Channel's heavy rotation in a year.

Ooooh! I'd definitely be up for a DC area clinic. -
Luxury Golf & Safari in South Africa

It looks like an awesome trip. And it's great that you have non-golfer activities too. Maybe someday my family will be able to take the trip. -

I got a confirmation email at 11:45 EST. Nothing since then. What are the odds I actually get balls? -
I took the family to see it today. We really enjoyed it. Certainly better than I-III. My wife thought it was too actiony, with not enough character development but I got caught up in it. Star Wars movies just get to me the way no other movies can. My 13 yr old daughter likes Jyn better than Rey. Not sure why though. Something about not liking Rey's hair style. :roll eyes: Anyways, highly recommended.

Where do you draw the line? WINTER IS COMING
davechen replied to CptShankapotamus's topic in Golf Talk
I did. Last Friday we were out on Chesapeake Bay, so I played River Marsh GC. Then on Sunday we were back home, and I played Needwood GC, one of my regular courses. It was actually pretty nice out, around 50, no wind and the sun was out. The weather in the winter time can be kind of variable, so I can usually make it out a couple times per month on average. Last year I played most of the winter, until we got hammered with snow towards the end of February. -

40 with wind chill is about my limit. -
Welp, I've already configured a new Macbook Pro. I like the touch bar. My current one is pretty long in the tooth at 3 years old.

1. Europe will win 15-13 2. Rory McIlroy will earn the most points, 4, by going 3-0-2. 3. Sergio Garcia will clinch for Europe on the 17th hole.

Hey I got that same email. I clicked on the link to try out the web site but got database errors. Do you play Needwood a lot? It's probably the course I play the most. I play Falls Road too, since it's closer, but it's much busier and harder to get on.

Yeah, I'd heard that 3 of the 4 stores in Northern Virginia were closing, leaving Tyson's Corner the only one left. That was too many stores for the region anyways.

Private clubs now open to the public

Does playing the course come with getting an Edel fitting at Congressional? :) Because that just might seal the deal for me, since I've been thinking about it. I did actually play the Gold course there. It was terrific, but I'd love the chance to play the Blue. -
9 for me. I recently had a round with 8, which I thought might be the best, but I checked my records on TheGrint, and I had one better earlier this summer.
