I would probably retro-actively concede the putt, but not before making a huge self-righteous stink about it. "WELL, I WASN'T planning on conceding that putt, but you know what, honest mistake on your part, and tell you what, you can have it this time. NO NO NO, I insist. ROOKIE MISTAKE and all. Please, you obviously wanted the putt and felt you should have it, so here you go, you can have it. I am telling you now, ITS GOOD. Happy?"

I've seen it a few times in my decade of playing. It is too bad there aren't more females in recreational golf. It is a game for everyone. Too bad it's dominated by males.

I would like to point out that that is a preposterous scenario and clearly misrepresents my opinion. I am not an idiot, if that's what you are implying. If I "owned a bank" I certainly would not approve of the scenario you are describing. Good day, sir.

Having read every reply in this thread I can only conclude that this is a moral grey area. In such a situation I defer to the old golden rule. (Good old Jesus!) If I was the proprietor of a golf practice range, and people were pocketing the odd Pro-V1 that made its way into circulation, I don't think I could blame them. And I would consider it incumbent upon myself to pick the premiums out and re-sell or repurpose them before they have a chance to tempt any of the customers.

I can't speak about the broadcast, but this four-hole gap you are referring to never happened. There was no catching up either because they never fell that far behind. Park and Kim are not slow players either. Park's movements might seem deliberate but she is a model of efficiency. When it's her turn, she is ready to go. Among the leaders Karrie Webb was the slowest player by far, and she was either third or fourth to last out on Sunday. I also attended Saturday, when Webb was in the final group with Sei Young Kim. They did fall about a hole behind. Other than that, I did not witness any other instances of slow play among the leaders. Q.E.D.

LIES. I attended today's round and followed the final group. We were pushing up against the group ahead. Kim and Park waited on just about every shot.

Tiger Woods and PGA Q School or even Web.com Tour

He could probably be elected to the WGHOF at least four times though. -
Colorado 18- 9 ski runs + 9 holes of golf Today

Sounds like a great day, a uniquely Coloradoan combo of sports. I want to try it too. I would probably want to add 9 bong loads to the festivities. -
"Moving the needle" and Rory vs. Rickie vs. Tiger
legitimatebeef replied to k-troop's topic in Tour Talk
I think Fowler is pretty boring and short on charisma. He has won twice on tour, and both times didn't know how to celebrate. At the core of his being he is modest and reserved. His golf game is pretty reserved too. Not that there's anything wrong with any of that. But you can't keep feeding people this hollow-ringing propaganda about him being so charismatic and exciting. His much-celebrated style isn't even stylish, it's just novel. (Or was novel.) When you look at Fowler photos from 2,3 years ago they already look pitifully dated. -
Fowler's GF Alexis Randock Insults "Hottie" on Instagram

I like how she made sure to get the boobs inside the frame. She looks like a girl who is constantly working it. It wouldn't surprise me if Rickie is gay. -
Don't think I could come up with a smarmier answer than Mr. Nicklaus's, so I'm out.

I don't believe it's cheating but I applaud their hard line stance. End could justify the means IMO.

It's one thing to obsess over Tiger Woods's golf game, what's in the golf bag, what kind of shoes he's wearing, even over his polo shirts. But when the obsession veers into another man's sex life, a line has been crossed IMO.

See how much life has changed for Jordan, he can no longer shoot a 74 and not have everyone get on his case about it. Godspeed young man!

Actually, I more or less agree with that. Here's the thing. Both these guys have won the career grand slam THRICE. They are tied. Nicklaus picked off a few more, but it was such a different era of competition. Even if you just look at the difference in world population then and now, Woods had so many more people to contend with. Finally if you factor in short game, which is a huge part of golf, at least the way I see it, the more complete player is Woods.

TIGER IS THE GREATEST PGATOUR GOLFER (SORRY SAM SNEAD) EVER, JACK IS THE GREATEST MAJOR CHAMPION EVER. HOW ABOUT THAT.

Quote: "If I didn't do it, I wasn't going to be able to play golf," Jason Dufner said of his weight loss last month. "I missed the playoffs, missed the defense of my PGA Championship. More than likely missed playing in the Ryder Cup because of it. So, not really ready to give the game of golf up yet." And so Dufner knuckled down. He didn't really change his workout plan but he completely overhauled his diet, which he says is 80 percent of the reason for his weight loss. He went 11 straight weeks without any fast food, chocolate or peanut butter, and continues pretty much gluten-free nowadays: No sugar, processed foods, alcohol or soda. He lost 20 pounds in all. "The first five days sucked," Dufner said. "I felt terrible, I laid in bed for five days, literally. Headaches and not feeling good. But trying to get all that toxin out of you." Dufner sounds woozy and disoriented. Maybe it's low blood sugar. Is he really saying that a few extra pounds was threatening his ability to play golf? I thought it was a neck injury. And that last quote with its sentence fragments and what not, is a little incoherent. He might have lost some pounds but he has also lost the rosy glow from his cheeks. Also he should've kept the hair at least, then maybe he wouldn't look so weird right now.

2015 Hyundai Tournament of Champions Discussion Thread
legitimatebeef replied to boogielicious's topic in Tour Talk
Couple questions about this tourney. 1) Why is it being played Fri-Mon? (Also, did they do it like this last year, year before?) and B) since when does the PGA TOUR re-group pairings after Round 1? -
Will it be a big deal if/when Tiger passes Snead for all time wins?
legitimatebeef replied to Jakester23's topic in Tour Talk
I think you hit on something. Using a single metric to decide who's the best ever is super simplistic and therefore easy for most people to digest and that's probably why it's a prevailing thought in 2015. -
I keep on keeping on. What else is there to do? Doesn't matter how I am playing, the premise is always the same: get the ball in the hole, count up the strokes. Plus I like looking over my scores and knowing there's historical accuracy to them, that every single goddamn stroke I take on a course is accounted for.

Will it be a big deal if/when Tiger passes Snead for all time wins?
legitimatebeef replied to Jakester23's topic in Tour Talk
Maybe not now, but if and when the time comes the media will pick up on it. However this question does beg another question--why is Sam Snead so overlooked by the golf establishment and fans in 2014? At one point he was an icon of American sports. He accomplished a lot in this sport, and delivered the goods for many years. He won PGAT events in like four different decades. It also speaks to the gross overvaluation of majors by the media and fans. If you are Tiger, or Jack Nicklaus, then you can prattle on about how "a golfer's career is measured in majors". For everyone else it's kind of pretentious poppycock if you ask me. Week to week, golf fans need to be entertained. There is way more to pro golf fandom than four weeks out of the year. Approaching 80 wins, that speaks of more than just talent, it's also extreme dedication and professionalism. For most of his career Woods gave 100% at every tournament whether major, nonmajor, even non-official events, even the European events (kidding, I love Europeans and respect their golf events). That is admirable. Now, he may be in Phil Mickelson mode, using nonmajors as tuneups and not necessarily to win. That sort of sucks, but you could say he has earned it. Phil has been jacking off at the nonmajors since like 2004 which is arguably kind of unprofessional. Play to win, chubby. That kind of thinking has now infected the likes of Rickie Fowler, who now thinks he has moved on to that stage of his career where "only the majors matter". Yay.
