Working on my hip rotation to ensure I dont get a reverse spine tilt during my back swing. Will be doing some Yoga as well to work on my general flexibility.
-
A swing video would help us see how flexible you really are in your swing. Although 140 yards with a 7i is pretty good imo.

Im no expert but i'll try give my opinion. 1) you dont have a full shoulder turn 2) your left arm bends on the backswing 3) chicken wing right elbow on the downswing Some of the things i picked up.

Why make a full shoulder turn?
nabzi replied to Keep It Simple's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Funny I had the opposite experience. I used to slice my driver for years before I realised I wasn't doing a full shoulder turn. I've been hitting my drives straighter than ever since I've started focusing on full 90 degrees turn. -
Do you leave the range early if you are hitting well ?
nabzi replied to gregsandiego's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Recently I've only been going with 3-4 clubs (50 balls) and I treat every shot as if I'm on the course. (pre shot routine etc) If I'm playing well and I have 10-15 balls left, I'll chip/pitch the rest otherwise I leave with notes to research or work on my next session. -
I'm going to have to pull out of this one unfortunately ?

Thanks Iacas. What do you mean by in? Can you advise where the ideal position is?

Guys, I need some help in identifying the cause of my out to in swing. My Iron shots are more forgiving but my woods and driver shots start straight for 150 yards before a wild curve to the right. Any ideas based on this videos? I think it might be my hip turn but just not sure. Thanks,

Lowest Score Wins or actual golf lesson
nabzi replied to klineka's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I agree with everything that has already been said in the thread. A coach will help your technique, where as LSW will help you decide what kind of shots to play, when/where and generally help you plan your way around the course. -
Hi All, I recently had a pitching lesson where my instructor advised me to use the following technique for the 30-90 yard shots. I've always used my iron swing routine - albeit with a wedge and a shorter swing depending on the distance I need to carry. I've adopted this new technique recently and I am getting a much better contact but I was interested in seeing how popular this technique was or if others used a different one? Thanks

This book has been in my garden shed for the last 9 months... time to crack this gem open again for read number 3!

Your feet's distance from the ball
nabzi replied to Shark918v's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I usually get my stance ready with holding my club out above the ball and then drop the club (to touch the floor) and then adjust my position accordingly. E.g If my club lands a few inches below the ball, I would adjust my feet and club by the appropriate amount of inches to move everything in line with the ball. -
Are you a Better Golfer than a Year Ago?
nabzi replied to iacas's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
This time last year I was playing weekly and having monthly golf lessons.. Unfortunately, once I got married.. I got lazy and as a result played just 3 times since August 2016 until March 2017. I've got back into playing now and hopefully I can lower my handicap by 2 strokes by 2018. -
Hit my 4 hybrid farther and straighter than my driver
nabzi replied to Moppy's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I had the same problem.. Could hit 210+ yards dead straight with my Hybrid but anywhere between 150-180 with my driver and 3W. I had a lesson and turned out I had a weak grip. I cared so much about my scores that I continued using my 4 hybrid and I never improved for that reason. I've started bringing my 3W and Driver with me for some of those "might as well" shots to pick up confidence now. -
Ball goes dead straight then swings violently right
nabzi replied to Harry666's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Are you able to video your swing and post in the swing thread? Would be easier to identify what you are doing wrong for some of the experts in here. -
really? how comes? Midnight?? my neighbor will come outside of his house and stare at you if you rev your car engine for a few seconds.. he would not appreciate the noise of a golf ball at midnight haha :D

Just finished my second read of the book. I have to say I appreciated the content the second time much more than the first. After the first read, I put the book down and went out and played a few rounds over a couple of months trying to incorporate the advice and thinking explained in the book and evaluated my game while reading the book for the second time. Will now spend the rest of the summer bringing my score down further before going back to the book for a 3rd read.

"5 Minutes Daily" Practice Challenge July 2016
nabzi replied to RandallT's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I have a 12ft long fake grass in my garden I have been using to practice my pitching stroke while waiting for the Mrs to get out of the toilet :) I feel the repetition is actually helping my game come on. -
I've been thinking about this topic myself, so I'll put the question here. I have a small garden with a shed at the end and a moody neighbor so I don't like to make too much noise. I was thinking about screwing some hook screws from the shed roof and then tying up a cheap net to the screws to create a net I can swing balls into. The question I had was if it makes a difference whether I used plastic/foam balls or real balls? Inclined to go more towards the practice balls as they make less noise and less chance of damage if I hit the odd crazy shot but wondered if anyone could offer any advice?

Hi All, Hope this is the right place to post this.. Just wondered how many of you actually keep a golf journal or a mini notebook to jot down swing thoughts or evaluations from your previous round of practice? I've been improving slowly but I tend to make the same mistakes over and over again which cost me strokes (quick shots with no practice swing, using the wrong club, not lining up the ball on the green) I've been thinking about investing in a pocket notebook to write down a few evaluations to help me improve as a player, especially since I play the same course 70% of the time. Would love to hear someone else's thoughts or advice? Thanks in advance.
