  1. I always knew it was the ball’s fault
  2. With all the shipping and supply issues, good luck getting inventory.
  3. FootJoy HyperFlex shoes. Very comfortable.
  4. Did not know Jason Day was a Ping player.
  5. Two pros playing, and it was safer to be in the fairway they were playing rather than a parallel fairway.
  6. I would leave them just as they are.
  7. Actually the muni was recently renovated, and is getting really good reviews.
  8. I wonder if the cycle will be delayed due to all the shipping delays to the club companies, and the length of time it is taking them to fill orders?
  9. At my old course, we had carts with governors. We had some steep hills, and the carts would slow down by themselves.
  10. I’ve played 3 Strantz courses. I really liked Tobacco Road and Caledonia, but I played Tot Hill Farm once, and it might be the one course I’ve played that I never want to play again.
  11. It was a straight par 5 that had a slight narrowing with a contoured drop off on the right . There was fairway to the left, and he hit it to the right. This area was even a different type of grass. The fairway and rough was hybrid Bermuda. Where he hit it was centipede, which is a slow growing grass that was allowed to be kind of a natural area.
  12. I was working at a club, and played in a scramble with members. We were the last group on the longest drive hole, and one of the members hit it past the marker, but in the rough. He said that area should be mowed as fairway, wrote his name on the marker, and got a new gas grill. As an employee, I thought it was up to the members to say something, but nobody spoke up.
  13. With the heat this summer, it’s getting harder for me to walk 18 two days in a row. Several times I actually played three days in a row, and that was really tough. Even though a lot of guys on tour are 40 years younger than me, it makes me appreciate what they and their caddies go through.
  14. One great thing about the electric cart vs a push cart will be your ability to maintain your posture walking up the hills. Your back will thank you.
  15. The behavior at Augusta should be the norm rather than the exception.
  16. Probably didn’t help that Brooksey offered a case of beer to those ousted for heckling Bryson. Shows how low standards have fallen when folks will act like a fool for Michelob Ultra.
  17. I have never had anything but stock shafts in any club I’ve ever owned. I have been fit for lie and flex, but that’s it. I would go to one of these outfits for a putter fitting, but I really don’t think it’s worth spending close to twice as much for a set of clubs.
  18. I have a turf degree, and have Stimped a lot of greens. 10 is a lot faster than most folks realize. That being said, it is very important that people that set up the course choose good hole locations. I played one day, and putted a ball about 18” past the hole, and it rolled back in. If it hadn’t gone in, I probably would have had a 6 footer. I didn’t complain about the speed of the greens, but I told the pro that he might get a few comments about the pin on six.
  19. I’m sure it affected them, but when was the last time the Tour actually gave a slow play penalty, and when was one given to the leaders of the tournament. In hindsight, it would have been a lot better to stick to the routine, and take a stroke penalty rather than the implosion that followed. I doubt seriously that the Tour would have given more than one stroke.
  20. How do you hit them? If you hit them where you want them, I’d leave them alone. I’m assuming a big change like that came with a fitting, so I’d ask the fitter to take a look, and make recommendations.
  21. Our range closes early on Sunday to do a “clean pick”, and reopens at 11:30 on Monday. It is mowed early Monday. The course is closed until noon on Monday’s.
  22. I am retired, but have a turf degree. The course I used to belong to used to have guys that did not play golf doing the set up. I used to play 9 by myself a lot, and was usually the first off. When I would see tee markers set like that, I’d move them.
  23. Rahm out as well after another positive test.
  24. I can’t believe they allowed those boneheads to stay out in that storm.
