It's perfectly legal to line up you putts this way. There's a german putter, which stands on it's own, so you can line up your putts walking around the putter without even holding it :) (called "the spicy putter") edit - found a video of the putter: http://golfforum.de/?p=21 greetings michi

That's exactly what I was thinking when I read that book. There's a situation at the beginning of his quest, when he's at the practice facilities for the first time and writes, that he was in awe of all the players there hitting perfect shots and whatever. Sounded like he spoke about the "gods at olymp". That's where my first thought was: "He's never gonna make it, because you have to be confident to be able to beat all those players, no matter what." He never writes about such thoughts, always about he was intimidated and about how good all these other players were. greetings michi

Please stop torturing us ;)

ROFL, that would be a really great answer!

I also suffered from this problem. When the ball hooks, most of the time I forget about shifting my weight forward an concentrate too much on keeping a flat left wrist. Also I think my stance is too wide with the driver, disturbing the weightshift. greetings michi

I sufferd a golfing/tennis elbow last year (I had pain on the outside of my right elbow). For me, streching helped the best of all, which I found at this site: http://tennisarm.ch/ There's an english version at the bottom of the page, those few stretchings and time solved my problem. Nowadays I'm doing the stretches nearly after every range session, and it helps to prevent the comeback of the pain. greetings michi

Looking great! I would also give the Logo a different color, but that's just personal preference. greetings michi -
The shortest of super short chip shots
mihi4 replied to Robato's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Great to hear that it worked out for you! (For me, it's still indoor putting and long-game training on the range at least for the next month, can't wait to get on the course...) greetings michi -
Sounds really weird. Maybe you should have a look at your bad rounds afterwards and find out, _why_ you scored so much worse then the day before. Bad driving, too many penalty strokes, putting? Usually you will find out what to work on an get more consistent. greetings michi

The shortest of super short chip shots
mihi4 replied to Robato's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Usually I play this shot with my 60, open up the clubface at least 45 degrees, adjust the stance and play a regular chip at least for the first 2 yards on the green. Better to have a comeback put with a chance to up&down;, than to leave it short and have to chip again. greetings michi -
Question about my wedge setup!
mihi4 replied to westcyderydin's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Youre setup looks nearly the same like mine (except the distances, I'm waaaay shorter). I'm using some sort of Pelz' teachings - I don't do the swing technique, but I use 3 lenthes of backswing to control the distances. I.e. one day I had a 60m approach into a green and the fairways were really hard. Usually I would have played a 9 o'clock shot with the 56, but I feared, the high bounce wouldn't work well on the tight lie. So I took a 0730 swing with the 52 and it worked great. Maybe you could do it the other way around? When the course is too wet for you 60, just practice with the short swing shots with the 56 and you will be ok, I think. greetings michi -
What is the most important part of a golf course?
mihi4 replied to Quinn07's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
Course condition - that's fairways and greens in acceptable conditions. The next thing for me would be the practice area, here are two examples: - my homecourse doesn't have a real driving range, but a net to hit into. It's not perfect, but at least you can warm up properly. The shortgame area and putting green are great. - the second course I play sometimes is also a small 9-hole course. But it doesn't have a driving range, you can warm up on the range of the nearby partnerclub, but it's a 5-10 minute drive afterwards. But what's much more disturbing to me, it doesn't even have a putting green! The greens on above partnerclub are about 3 times faster than the ones on the small course, so you won't be able to get some feel for the greens you will be playing. Just horrible... greetings michi -
That's not the same, I think. I've been into Volleyball for 20 years, and I've seen coaches, who could do wonders to rookies, teaching them the basic stuff, technique, etc., but who are not able to go into finer detail with seasoned players, give proper tactical advice, ... On the other hand, I had coaches, who were perfect for us as high level, but were not able to teach beginners the basics of the game. I think, that's the same in golf, too. Edit: OnTopic: Since I never heard of Rush Limbaugh before, I went completely unbiased into watching the first episode. To me, it was much more interesting than Barkley and I didn't see much of Ray. Rush cares about his game - you could tell from his "14 swing thoughts" he has, which aren't all swingthoughts, but things like "don't do reverse pivot", "alignment", and so on. All the things, you and me (the nuts on this forum) are doing when thinking about his game. So I'm really interested, what will happen during the next episodes. greetings michi

Pre- Sand Trap vs Post- Sand Trap
mihi4 replied to mlf16507's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Ok, here we go: My first set was the classic Wal-Mart type starterset, driver, 3 and 5 wood, putter and 3-SW irons, graphite shaft, blabla. Cost about 150,- Worked great when I started, but one time I got to test a friend's W/S Pi5 irons and was hooked. The steel shaft helped me to keep my swing steady, I was too handsy with the graphite shafts. Cost $230,- Once I managed to hit my driver better, I got a cheap driver (Mizuno MX-500) for about 120,- And after reading Pelz' ShortgameBible decided to get a wedge set and got 3 MD Superstrong wedges - most helpful purchase up2date for me. Played the Pi5 until last October, since I wanted to get a forged set - after reading here and at golfwrx ;) (But of course, the Pi5s were quite used now, since I really play a lot). Got my KZG CavityBack last fall off the bay, new for 230,- I always wanted to add some blades the CBacks, and I got a set of used MP-33 for EUR 99,-. After trying out the MP-33 only the i4 and i5 of the KZG stayed in the bag, I hit the MP33 as well as the cavity backs. My last addition on the club side is a Mizuno MX700 3wood - which is about 8000x easier to hit than my starter set one, which was horrible. So, in conclusion - if I never heard of the trap or golfwrx, I would still use my Pi5, I guess *gg* But I spent about EUR 500,- each of the last 2 years on rangeballs, so I'm using quite more money and time on practice than on my equipment... greetings michi -
Too much snow here for short game shots :(, sooo: Everyday Putting in the living room: 3-9 feet putts to a small cup, smaller in diameter than a real golfhole Basic and Aquired Motion drills at home in front of a mirror without a ball. Basic and Aquired Motion at the range, going to full swing with all of the clubs.

I'd say, "pretty is, as pretty does". As long as it's not against the rules, every style of putting, stroking the ball, etc. is fine to me... greetings michi

Even a 47" Club would be about 1.20m, to me, that would be quite enough. It took me 2-3 hours to build my selfmade shaft puller, not the club... greetings michi
-
Clever idea, I was thinking about something similar, but decided on a small, cheap mat (about 30,-), good enough for Basic and Aquired Motion training... greetings michi
-
That looks really nice! Sadly, our basement ceiling is too low to build something like that. But I put in a small mat where I can work on Basic and Aquired Motion. Conenctrating on solid contact is the main goal here. I also have a 10 feet putting mat in the living room, and everyday put at least 20-30 minutes (but more often longer than this). Concentrating on lineup and solid stroke. greetings michi

I think, that's quite a bold statement. What would you need a 2meter ruler for? To me, for reshafting clubs, depending on the specific work, these tools are necessary: 1.) Replacing iron shafts (new shafts already have the right length, like most tapertipped shafts) - heat gun - epoxy - round wire brush - sand paper (- new ferrules) Apply heat to the hosel, until the old epoxy melts, remove the head, clean out the hosel, sand the tip of the new shaft, apply epoxy, put together shaft/ferrule/head, let dry - DONE If you have to trim your shafts by yourself you will also need a small hacksaw, but better would be a steel pipe cutter - costs about 5-6 bucks - and a regular tape measure will do, also. In all, if you just want to replace your iron shafts, it really, really cheap to do it. 2. Replacing graphite shafts - heat gun - epoxy - round wire brush - sand paper - selfmade shaft puller (about 10,- - 15,-) To cut the graphite shafts, I'd suggest a fine hacksaw again, works really well. A selfmade shaft puller is not really hard to do (search on golfwrx for "diy shaft puller", the website is down ATM). I don't have a pic of mine, but it took me about 2 or 3 hours to build it (with parts I already had at home). greetings michi

I got an XK Pro 7-iron for my girlfriend to test it out, and she really likes it. Tried it by myself, very solid to play. greetings michi
