With In Bee Park's win in Mexico last week, the battle for supremacy between Ko & Park comes down to the last 2015 LPGA tournament.  Here are what's at stake, caveat - best to my knowledge.

  • Number 1 world ranking - the ranking difference (12.4/Ko vs 12.31/Park) is so small that whoever finishes ahead of the other is most likely end the year with the #1 world ranking.
  • Scoring average - Ko (2nd, 69.449) needs to finish 2 strokes better than Park (1st, 69.433) and Ko will claim the title.
  • $1M CME bonus - either one gets it with a win, or higher finish than the other depending on how the rest does.  Ko (1st) leads Park (2nd) in CME points.
  • Player of the year - Ko leads 273 to 270 points against Park.   See number 1 ranking comment above.
  • Money - Park can take the lead with a win, depending on how Ko does

Uh-oh.   Ko is in a tie for 1st place with her "toof" and all.  Two+ more rounds to go but once she gets the sole lead, it is hard for the rest to catch her.   Park & Lewis are 4 strokes behind Ko.  Their job today will be to close the gap between them and Ko.

By only finishing one place behind Park, Ko retains the #1 ranking, gets $1M bonus for the 2nd year in a row, is the player of the year, and wins the money title.   And she is still only 18 years old.  Amazing.

Consolation prize for Park, she wins the scoring average title and fulfills another requirement for becoming an LPGA Hall of Fame member.

    • I’m not sure I agree. It’s just what the majority find more entertaining. Most people prefer women’s gymnastics over men in the Olympics. How much hype is there with the men’s compared to the women’s? I bet you can rattle off several big names in women’s gymnastics and only a handful of men. Women’s tennis …same thing. And sure enough, their purses are the same. However, WNBA, awful…LPGA, not near as much interest than PGA. Don’t think it’s really that complicated IMO.

    • Hence your Avatar!😜 I drink a lot of water during the day if I’m playing or exercising. I get cramps otherwise.
    • If you walk up to a food/drink kiosk at Magic Kingdom and ask the person for a cup of "magic water" they will give you a small cup of Sprite for free. About 3 fingers worth. They don't sell alcohol at MK anymore so I go over to one of the courses while she hangs out there.
    • This isn't some kind of natural fact. It's a lot more complicated than this implies.
