The moral answer is to hand it in, but I would be tempted to keep it in the bag - but then again, it is only a golf club at the end of the day

The thing is I don't find too many left handed clubs fitted to my body exactly on golf courses.

But if I did it would probably be mine.

I turn them into lost and found or drive up to the group in front of me and ask if its thers

If it's the "club of my dreams" I would probably take a few test swings with it (not hitting anything) to see if I should buy one then go to the group ahead of me to see if it's any of theirs and if not, turn it in at the clubhouse. It was probably that other persons dream club as well....

If you're even remotely tempted...just place yourself in the club's owner's shoes. Wouldn't you want someone to turn it in? -LBB

I'd turn it in, but then again, the most left club on the course is generally a wedge. If you're tempted to take it when you can go buy a brand new wedge for $99-$109, something is wrong with you. I don't see many people leaving their $400 drivers, or an entire iron set on the golf course

Although, I guess a putter could happen. I once was grouped with an older guy who had his scotty, and he left his headcover on the green and I gave it back to him, those things go for like $40 on ebay.

I've had it done to me, Left a wedge that I actually won (which hurt me more than buying) because We worked hard to win the tournament. (Scramble)

When i went back to ask if they had it they said no. They were the only group behind us.

I'm trying to remember....my Dad had this special word he used to use to describe what it was when you keep golf clubs that you find lying on a golf course..

Oh...It's on the tip of my tongue....Let me think....

Oh, yes...now I remember...."stealing". That was the word! How silly of me to forget!

Be warned folks, I have a voodoo lady in Lousiana that puts a curse on all of my clubs. I am of course, immune to this curse...but anyone that so dares to steal and subsequently use any of my equipment shall be plagued with an incurable case of the yips, a viscious and unpredictable push-slice, and a particularly bad rash in a place best left unmentioned. Go ahead, keep that wedge....I dare you....

...."stealing". That was the word! How silly of me to forget!

Funny...I will ALWAYS put the club in the basket of the cart(I usually ride), never in my bag(looks better to person who left it), and if no one comes back for it I will immediately inform the cart attendant then take it directly to the pro shop. Do unto others....C

I couldn’t imagine taking a club I found.
The closest thing to actually doing this is many years ago we were playing and it got very cold, very quickly. A buddy of mine only had on a short sleeve golf shirt and was freezing. I told him to go into the pro shop, at the turn, and ask if there were any jackets in the lost and found box. If so, borrow one for nine holes and put it back when we were done. We died laughing when he came out with a Member’s Only jacket that was several sizes too small. He said it was all they had, I wonder why?

What goes around comes around.

Turn it in to the pro shop or keep it & think about it when you get the shanks & wonder why. No choice at all. Do the right thing and the golf gods will reward you

My last round of golf, my pinseeker 1500 range finder somehow found its way out of my cart and onto the ground. I have no idea how, even now.

Group behind us caught up to us on the next tee before I even knew it was missing and asked if it was mine. I produced the empty case for it along with a stunned expression, and they gave it back.

That's why golf is different than most other sports. Good people can be found on the golf course.

I always am considerate of how players will feel if they lose one of their hard earned golf tools. Besides, their wife will never let them buy another one!

Why not rephrase the question thus:

"How many of you Sandtrappers are low life scumbag thieves?" Let's stick to golf.

I cant imagine anyone saying that they wouldnt turn it in. It blows my mind that no one turned in an iron i left on the 18th once. (not that i would condone stealing a driver or putter, but a single iron???). For the most part our turning stuff in has helped us in the karma department, as my wife's gopher head cover that constantly falls off is always returned.......

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

This is unequivocal: If you keep a club you find on the course, you are sub-human.

I don't think much of people who pick up potentially live balls either.
