A buddy of mine from college got me two tickets to Sunday night's Duke-Valparaiso game at Cameron. I've been there a couple times and it is an amazing place. Of course, this is coming from a die-hard Duke fan, so I'm biased. I've also had the pleasure of watching a Duke-UNC game in the Dean dome.

The one other place I'd love to watch a sporting event is in South Bend. I'd love to watch a Notre Dame game there. I'm not a big fan of the Irish (go PSU!) but it would be fun to watch a game there sometime.

So I'll pose a question to the group...is there anywhere you've been or want to go to a sporting event?

Have fun man! I'm a pretty big UNC fan, so you probably know how I feel about Duke. That being said, I would still love to see a game at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Those Dukies are crazy! I would also like to see a game at the Dean Dome. I bet the atmosphere was awesome for the UNC/Duke game you attended.

As for me, I've only been to one professional game, and that was the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets vs. Minnesota TWolves last month. The game was awesome, and the crowd was crazy, now that Oklahoma sorta has a pro team. It was fun.

I'm much more of a college fan, however. I was at Boone Pickens Stadium (Oklahoma St.'s football stadium) last year for OSU vs. Oklahoma. That was the most awesome atmosphere I've ever been a part of. The place was shaking it was so loud. We lost by 3 though. :/

I want to go watch a high-quality Oklahoma State basketball game at Gallagher-Iba pretty soon. It's one of the 10 best places in all of college basketball in my opinion. That is definitely something in the near future hopefully.

I've been to a Seahawks game in the old Kingdome... which they blew up a few years back and I've been to a bunch of Mariners games. Safeco field is just outstanding and a beautiful park. I'd love to see the Seahawks in Quest field, but thats not happening this year at least... they're sold out.

Probably the funniest memory I have of a sporting event was watching the Seattle Thunderbirds play the Portland Winterhawks. Both are in the WHL hockey league, just below the NHL. There must have been 10 or more fights that night as Seattle was getting killed. The gloves would fly off and fists started to fly... everyone stood up and started cheering. It made me think that I was watching gladiators or something. I don't know if this qualifies, but watching the Harlem Globetrotters was pretty fun... years ago.

Sorry to hear that.

The feeling is mutual. It's too bad...I really formed a good opinion of you at the Newport Cup.

The game at the Dean Dome was great...but sorry to tell you that it was UNC's worst home loss in history. That was the year they started Boone at the point and Duke was stacked. It is a great place to see a game...even if you are a Duke fan.

As for me, I've only been to one professional game, and that was the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets vs. Minnesota TWolves last month. The game was awesome, and the crowd was crazy, now that Oklahoma sorta has a pro team. It was fun.

I saw the opener there (on TV) and it looked like the fans there were nuts. I love being in that sort of environment...and honestly, that's why I started following Duke back in the early 90's. I LOVE the crazies. There is nothing like being there to hear them.

I want to go watch a high-quality Oklahoma State basketball game at Gallagher-Iba pretty soon. It's one of the 10 best places in all of college basketball in my opinion. That is definitely something in the near future hopefully.

That looks like a great place...and I think that Sutton is one of the most respectable coaches in all of sports today. I love the way his teams play. I was pulling hard for them a couple years ago when they had a strong team.

I could have gone to the Wake-DePaul game last night but had nobody to go with me . That is another great arena (Lawrence Joel Coliseum) to see a game. Probably the best game I've ever been to is the ACC Championship a few years back. NC State had Duke on the ropes for most of the game and Duke clawed back and Redick sealed it. It was awesome to watch the looks on all the State, UNC and Maryland fans... everyone was rooting against Duke. We got the tickets through a friend. They were at mid-court and only 8 rows back from the benches. I don't know if anything will ever top that.

You're missing out if you haven't been to the Big House to see OSU vs Michigan. Plus the Horseshoe is pretty cool too. I've been to Royal St. Georgeg for the british open, but Augusta is the dream venue for myself. well, that and the old tigers stadium. that place was sweet.

Yeah, I was going to ask you what you thought of the Wake Forest game last night, but I didn't feel like going there this early. :)

Is your wife an alum of Wake Forest? Aren't you a fan of them as well?

As for the UNC/Duke rivalry, it's definitely one of the best, and I'm in the minority with all my friends on the situation. Most of my friends are Duke fans, but I've always enjoyed watching UNC for some reason. I have really started respecting Duke more the last few years because they still keep players for 4 years in a time where that's very rare. I respect the heck out of JJ Redick and Shelden Williams for playing all 4 years. I also picked them in the preseason to win it all this year!

Wouldn't you have loved to be at Cameron Indoor for the Duke/VTech game a couple weeks ago? That was an amazing game and finish!!

Yeah...that was a downer. They had too much time off between games and looked rusty. Yes, my wife got her MBA there a couple years ago. I'm a big fan of Wake as well. We nearly got season tickets, but decided against it at the last minute. I've been to a couple games this year.

Given how close the schools are (less than 10 miles), I think there is no other rivalry like it or one that can top it.

I don't know how much longer K can keep guys for 4 years...he had a spell there were a bunch were leaving early, but he managed to keep Redick and Williams...

Hell yeah. I was stunned. When Dockery made that shot, I just kept saying "Oh my god!" over and over. I have the video on my computer and it still give me chills. In fact, I think I'll just fire it up now.

Heinz Field. I probably could have paid $30 to sit way up in the nosebleed section by now, but I'd rather spend $250 or so and get a really good seat somewhere, sometime.

I'd love to go to the Big House...but I've been to Happy Valley many of times and I can't imagine that it is far behind Meeechigan's home. No disrespect because both are impressive.

Augusta...yeah...that would be a dream. My dad has put in for practice round tickets, so we'll see.

I've never seen any golf tournaments in person, but that's definitely something I would like to do in the future. I think I'll probably head to Southern Hills in Tulsa for the 2007 PGA Championship. That will be my first good opportunity though. I guess I could drive down and go to Colonial or the Byron Nelson as well.

I would love to go to Augusta. That has to be an awesome experience.

I have seen OSU bball a couple of times but I would love to see a BIG TIME game, it would be amazing. I would love to go see Duke play at home, just by watching the Crazies you get excited. In college football, it would have to be Irish Football game, couldnt even imagine the Atmosphere. As for Boone Pickens, I was with Thrash and it was the craziest thing ever. Never would think a small place like that could get so LOUD. I have been to the Superbowl in California, Rose Bowl, to be exact. Every person needs to go there at least once, 100,000 + screaming fans.

I won't go to a Superbowl unless it is the Browns. Therefore, I won't ever go to a Superbowl.

Well, I had a great time watching my Dukies win. We sat in the upper corner opposite of the Duke bench. Not the best seats, but I'm not complaining especially at the (free) price. We actually moved down to the end of our row at the first timeout and stood with our backs against the wall and had a great view from there.

Cameron looks a lot smaller from the upper rows than it does from basket-level. The other times I had been there, I was down in that area...much lower. That place does get loud though...there were a few times the place erupted.

Got back home around 11:30 and in bed by 11:45. All in all, a good day.

Dave, I thought about you when I saw the game. It was on Fox Sports Southwest last night. I didn't watch much of it though because I didn't figure it would be too competitive. What ended up being the final score?

Glad you had a good time!

104-77.

We left as Duke was nearing the century mark. I've put the word in to my buddy that any time is a good time to go to a Duke game. They're playing in Greensboro on the 31st. I may make a trip over there to see the game. I have some family coming in, so I have to tread lightly.

Notre Dame (I'm a fan) is quite the experience for a football game but the big house is pretty awesome. I also grew up close to PSU and I can tell you that Beaver stadium doesn't really compare to the big house. Back when PSU played bball at REC Hall was pretty cool to watch a game but in terms of newer arena's I'd have to say Pitt is the best place I've been to see a game. Maryland is a crazy place to watch a bball game but the students get a little too rowdy at times. I made it to Cameron once and I thought it was a good time plus I like smaller arena's where the fans are really close to the floor.

And the Thread Resurrection of the Century Award goes to........DFerlmann! Woooo! Come on down. Interesting topic though. I've ben to the stadiums of all of my favorite teams (Fenway Park, Gillette Stadium, TD Garden), as well as a few other MLB stadiums (the former Shea Stadium, Camden Yards). I think I'd like to see some of the nice baseball stadiums out there. Baseball parks just seem to have more (cliche alert) personality than football stadiums and basketball/hockey arenas, probably because the dimensions are all different. I'd like to see the new Yankee stadium, Citi Field, PNC Park, Miller, Bank One Ballpark (or whatever they call it now... Chase Field, I think?), Pac Bell Park (it'll always be Pac Bell, not AT&T;), Wrigley Field, the new Marline stadium when it goes up, Jacobs Field (Progressive now, I think), Rogers Center (SkyDome is still a better name), Minute Maid Park, Dodger Stadium, Safeco. If I could go back in time, the first place I'd go would be Polo Grounds. Man would it be cool to see that place.
