This weekend I spent $75 to play 18 Holes of Golf at a 'middle of the road' course. Steeple Chase' in Mundelein Illinois. The pal that setup the Tee Time paid $55 because he is a resident. $75 is a rip off, I think..what do you pay, and where?

Eventually, I'll get the hint and stop advertising, which is against the rules.

I only play 9 at my local course because it's all I have time for, and that usually costs $18.00 on a weekday, $13.00 after 5:30, and $20.00 on a weekend... Presumably, a full 18 would be double that, so about $40.00.

$75.00 for a round would be too much for me, I think... Whether it's the standard or not, I really don't know.

I've paid anywhere from $20/round for twilight at a cheap course up to $120 for a really nice course on a Saturday morning. I'm lucky to live in a metro area that seems to have more courses than golfers, and I usually don't have a problem finding a fair course with fair greens fees.

I visit my sister-in-law in Illinois once in a while, and the golf in the north west Chicago area is pretty steep even for Muni type looking tracks (we usually go play golf in Michigan when we go to Chicago).

Here in Ohio, we have a LOT of golf courses, and I play in a traveling golf league. I would say the average cost for 18 and a cart is around 35 to 45 bucks on the weekends (it's WAY cheaper during the week!).

Some "fancier" courses are charging 60 dollars for 18, and right now, we all pretty much agree that it is not worth that kind of money.

Our league playoffs are starting next weekend, and the second round is at Westfield County Club (where they used to hold the Junior PGA Championship) and it will cost us $75.00 a guy (includes a cart and FREE range balls).

I'm a member at the course I usually play but some of the other courses that I play in the area are about $27-$36. I occasionally get invites to play at courses that are between $60-$80....which is nice to do every once in while.

At the course I play most often it is $15 for 9 and a cart, $25 for 18 and a cart, about 3-5 bucks less walking. The course my highschool team plays at is $25 for 9 for a junior, $35 for 9 and a cart, 60 something for 18 and a cart. I've never payed moore than 15 dollars to play, though, because I get to play at the expensive course for free.

You poor guys in Chicagoland get HOSED on greens fees. I have a buddy who still lives there. With a family, he can't AFFORD to play!

Here's a couple of recent rounds my wife and I have played. Cost is for BOTH our 18-hole rounds WITH cart:

Castle Bay - Hampstead, NC) $90 - VERY nice place!

Northshore CC - Snead's Ferry, NC - $78 - another top-end track

We splurged on these two places because we were on vacation last week.

At home, we recently played one of the 'must-play' courses in Ohio. The Legends in Massillon, Ohio. We used an Entertainment Book coupon. Played 18 with cart for $45!!!!

Fortunately, we've got a lot of really nice courses to play here in NE Ohio for not a lot of money. People in Ohio have a threshold of what they'll pay for something. Raise the cost over that threshold and nobody will buy. Kind of nice.

$20 to $60 depending on the course. Last night I paid $20 twilight (3pm) for 18 with a cart. I very rarely pay more than $35 locally (off-hours).

I usually hit the specials or use my American Lung discount book.
Out of the 5 courses within 30 minutes of me I pay on average 24.00 for 18 with a cart.

I've only played at my local muni so far. 18 holes walking after 2pm on a weekday is $18. ($3 discount after 2pm, plus $3 for county residents) An abo****e steal whilst trying to find my feet after a long break.

Not an amazing course (about 6000yrds) but it held the PGA Championship in the 1940s!

When I start playing more and better I'll look at getting a membership somewhere. I used to do it back in Britain and it was great if I had a spare few hours just to go and knock 9 holes.
