Where do you store your clubs?

I've been stuggling a bit with this lately.

My clubs did reside in an upstairs closet over my long layoff. Now, though, I'm back hard at it...playing or practicing weekly. My young son has picked the game up, too.

If it were up to he and I, we'd leave our sticks right by the front door...but the lady of the house isn't having that.

There is a coat closet near the front door that may suffice. The problem is with limited space, everything needs to be well ordered.

I've seen bag holders that held two bags and had shelves for other stuff. Nice looking organizers....just wondered how well they worked.

Ideally, I'd simply leave them in the garage, however it is just too humid to do so. I can't stand the feel of my grips when they've been in the garage.

Maybe I need to purchase a dehumidifier for the garage???


What do you folks do with your precious sticks?

Trunk of the car where they're available when I need them. I realize I'll probably have to re-grip more often than if I kept them in the house, but I don't care.

We are keeping ours in the basement (utility room) which is one door away fro the garage, until we sell our Ranger. Then we'll keep them in the garage. Her truck is too tall to make it inside the garage doors so we'll have the open spot.

I keep mine in storage at my club. A small tip after each round assures that they are clean and ready for my next round. One downside though. Recently a new attendant brought up my wife's bag (powder blue print, girlie headcovers, etc.) upon which I heard a fellow player proclaim, "Nice bag, RD".

Same...in the trunk and ready to go. We don't really have the humidity issue though so they are as good there as anywhere.

Soon they will be stored in the basement though

I have a locker at the course where I work so that is where they stay most of the time. If I am playing somewhere else, I take them home and they go in my bedroom or the living room. My wife doesn't like that all that much but she goes in the garage before they do.

Yep, me too - nothing worse than your buddy saying, "Hey, let's go play nine after work" and you don't have your sticks ... Besides, here in New England it's getting to a point that if you don't have your clubs with you at 5 p.m.-ish and get right off you seriously run out of daylight quickly ... by 7:30 you are in complete darkness ...

Mine are either lying across the backseat of my truck or standing in my room, depending on how many people are going to be riding in my truck in the near future.

It's funny, clubs are almost as much of a display item/decoration living in a fraternity house. The TV looks naked without my bag sitting next to it.

I threw my clubs into the lake so it's time to start over...

I try to keep them in the trunk so I am ready at a moment's notice, but wifey doesn't care for that so when they aren't in the trunk, they are in the garage.

I keep mine in my living room. Divorce has a lot of upside.
I don't like to store the bag in the garage because of humidity (bag mildew, rust inside metal shafts, glove rot, and humidity will ruin a leather grip in a month).
I like the house a lot because of temperature.

Cold morning conversation with me:
"The ball isn't going any place today."
"Where were your golf balls last night?"
"In my bag, in the car."
"Your ball isn't going anywhere because it's colder than a beer. It's hard to compress a rock."

In my experience, that's the case.

That said, a co-worker mentioned that keeping clubs in a hot trunk can affect the shaft/head glue?

Any thoughts on that?

Me too. I take them out in the dead of winter if it's certain that there won't be any golf for a few weeks, otherwise they live in my trunk. I don't even find that it affects the grip life.

It's conceivable: you could have your clubs in a 200 degree oven for 10 hours.

I have used my oven to remove heads when I'm out of gas for the torch.

Mine stay in the trunk 24-7 when I'm not playing. Never had any effect on the epoxy, and there is really no way that it can. That is a complete fallacy. It takes about 350 degrees to break even a weak epoxy, and your car will never get even close to that. Test it sometime.... put a cup of water in there and tell me if it comes to a boil. It won't, and that only takes 212 degrees. In fact here in Denver it only takes 206 degrees.... won't get that hot either.

Mine are either in the garage on the floor, the trunk of the car, or in the house if I am washing them. I do not have a designated spot for them.
