I don't understand your comment about Tiger... 99% of all pro's use overlap grip.

As for baseball grip, I have had to go to that due to an injury. I may wrong but I seen to recall that Lance Ten Broek or however you spell it... a pro from years ago... used baseball grip.

most tour pros overlap their right pinky over their left index finger..

tiger seems to overlap his left index over his right pinky.. i noticed this because of his glove being on top of the pinky.. unless i am completely viewing it wrongly..

I think it's more like 80% of tour pros use overlap/vardon.

Tiger uses the interlock grip because his childhood hero Jack Nicklaus did.

To answer your question though: Moe Norman was famous for using the baseball grip.

Bob Estes (as has been previously pointed out) experimented with the baseball grip on tour, and played pretty well. But last time I saw him, he was using with his old grip and had abandoned the baseball grip. Bob is fun to play golf with and an all-round great guy. He is ranked 32nd all time on the PGA tour money list.

Tiger uses an interlocking grip, not an overlapping grip (and certainly not baseball or ten-finger).

I use an interlocking, because it feels the most natural, and is definately more consistent than the overlap. When my instructor got me to try the baseball grip, it was a complete mess.

I find my wrists feel much stronger without having to squeeze the club as hard to get that strength. Distance and ballflight have improved. Im only sufferring a slight, slight hook with my irons, and were working on fixing that. My driver and wedges are my biggest problem right now, both being extremely important.

In the Ogio Kingpin bag:

Cobra Baffler T-Rail 3 & 4 Hybrids

Edel Forged 48, 52, 56, 60, and 64* wedges (different wedges for different courses)

Ok, let me ask the question a different way. What grip would you use if you'd played 28 years of baseball in your life?

I use baseball grip and shot in lower 80's every time I go out. Maybe /i could shoot in 70's if using interlocking or overlapping, not sure.

Welcome to The Sand Trap, @DonB5750.  You may not get a lot of response here, the last time anyone posted here was a little over 6 years ago.  On the other hand, you're in a great place to get some really good advice, so maybe it'll work out.

@DaveP043 means in this particular topic, of course, by "here." Not the forum or even this specific sub-forum, of course. 😄

Of course @iacas is right.  And I really should give credit, so many newcomers simply start a brand new topic, @DonB5750 did exactly the right thing in researching for an existing thread to post in.  Once again, welcome.

Tiger uses the interlock grip. The overlap grip or I believe it is called the Varna grip is popular but I doubt 99% of pros use it.

    • I’m not sure I agree. It’s just what the majority find more entertaining. Most people prefer women’s gymnastics over men in the Olympics. How much hype is there with the men’s compared to the women’s? I bet you can rattle off several big names in women’s gymnastics and only a handful of men. Women’s tennis …same thing. And sure enough, their purses are the same. However, WNBA, awful…LPGA, not near as much interest than PGA. Don’t think it’s really that complicated IMO.

    • Hence your Avatar!😜 I drink a lot of water during the day if I’m playing or exercising. I get cramps otherwise.
    • If you walk up to a food/drink kiosk at Magic Kingdom and ask the person for a cup of "magic water" they will give you a small cup of Sprite for free. About 3 fingers worth. They don't sell alcohol at MK anymore so I go over to one of the courses while she hangs out there.
    • This isn't some kind of natural fact. It's a lot more complicated than this implies.
