OK, I have been thinking about a new driver for awhile. Luckily for me , my daughter accidently broke the shaft on my HiBore XLS(no encouragement, she did it on her own) last night at the range. By the time I pay for a new shaft, I could get new driver. The two drivers I am considering are the Nike Dymo2 or Callaway Diablo, due to new models released and lower prices. I absolutely love my Dymo2 3 wood, but the Diablo looks very interesting. Any advice on these two drivers would be appreciated. I have limited funding, so please don't advise a $300-$500 driver. I would rather spend that extra money on instruction and green fees.

In my  Warbird Hot stand bag:
nike.gif Dymo2 Str8 fit 10.5 or  HiBore XLS 10.5,  Steelhead Plus 3 and 5 woods,

 NP2 3H,  DCI 990 4-PW,  Forged + 54/12,  RAC 58/8,

Classic #1,  NXT Tour or  Burner TP

Where are you in North Alabama? If you're near Madison, Madison Golf Center will let you demo most anything at their range.

I'd suggest trying both out, and leavin the fans of either clubs out of the equation. Personally, I like the Diablo neutral set up, 9.0 degree stiff...nice club, solid impact and definitely long if hit right (as are most clubs right? ;) ), however I did hit the Dymo2 and would have to say it's a solid club but for me it lacked feedback, probably due to it not being a solid club (2-piece, shaft/head). I can give an opinion, but doesn't mean you should play it...save yourself the aggrivation after the 'honeymoon' stage with a new club is over and the denial/regret sets in lol and try both clubs side by side if possible to get your best educated decision. Good luck, wish I had a kid to break my clubs haha

Is that the range next to Intergraph where the driving range targets 565? If so that may be my ticket. I know of one shop in Huntsville that has a 4 day demo also. I think I might check them out this afternoon.

I think you really need to try the clubs you are considering, and can't really go by what we say. I recently hit three preowned drivers--Ping G10 (10.5 and 9*, different shafts and flexes), Cobra 2008 Speed LD-F (9.5* stiff GD stock shaft), and the Callaway Diablo (10* Draw, regular flex Aldila stock shaft). All good drivers with good reviews. Bottom line, I loved the Ping G10. The Cobra didn't really work for me. As for the Diablo which you are asking about, which should have been a pretty good fit for me, I hit it poorly and it just felt awkward for me. Could have been the shaft, or too weak of a flex, could have been the draw bias, but it just didn't work for me. So despite all of the positive reviews I had read about it, that particular setup did not work for me. Wouldn't have known it until I demo'd it. The 9* neutral setup with a stiff shaft might have been the total opposite though--but I'm sold on the Ping and don't need to try more variations of the Diablo. Good luck.

Equipment:
Ping K15 Driver (10.5º) - Diamana BB R flex; Ping G15 4 Wood (TFC R flex); Ping G15 20* Hybrid (TFC R flex); Ping G15 23* and 27* Hybrids (AWT R flex steel); Ping G15 Irons 6-GW (AWT R flex steel); Ping I-Wedge 54* Wedge; CG14 BP 58* Wedge; Odyssey Black Series Tour Designs #9 Putter

That's the one. The owner is real nice and they usually have an extensive selection.

Id look at some used drivers, has to be some local store around there that has a used section, most stores will let you hit the used ones as many times as you want on their simulator to see what you like. Should be able to find something you like for $100 or less. We have a store in mt vernon il(about 25 miles from me) that always seems to have a good supply of used drivers, usually trade ins to choose from, might be able to find another hibore if you really liked that driver or something else. You cant look at a driver and tell whether you like it or not or go by what anybody else says or any review, have to hit it and find out how it feels to you.

If you're talking about a persimmon or titanium driver, yeah, used is okay. I'd be hesitant to buy a 2007 or newer driver used. You might find a winner, and you might get one that's 2 hits away from a cracked face. Actually that could happen right out of the box - go for it.

I have the dymo one, and then just hit the diablo about a week ago, and liked the feel of it sooo much more, also flet more solid and sounded better. I couldnt compare ball flights cause i was in a hitting bay. But if i could go back and choose id choose the diablo.

OK, I demoed three drivers today; the Diablo, Dymo2, and Monster. I really disliked the Diablo, I simply did not like anything about it. After a little while on the range, I did not take it to the course. The Dymo2 was very nice. It has to be the straightest driver I have ever hit. The Monster was wonderful. Since my broken driver was an XLS, it just felt normal for me. So guess what, I got the Monster in 10.5* with the Aldila Voodoo regular. The head shape, sound, shot shape, and feel were all in my comfort zone. Thanks guys for the recommendations and advice. The Monster just won me over.

I have minimal experience with the Diablo, but I think it looks nice. I am using the Dymo2 and love it; I got it, in part, because of how much I like my SQ-series hybrids and 4-wood.
